❗️An Important Update from West Atlanta Pediatrics

Wishing Dr. Lindsey Ransom the Very Best! 💙

It is with sadness that we announce the departure of Dr. Lindsey Ransom from West Atlanta Pediatrics. Her final day of patient care will be on Thursday October 1st. For the past 14 years, Dr. Ransom has provided incredible care to the children and families in our practice. She will be missed immensely by her colleagues, staff and patients! She has accepted a new opportunity that will allow her to spend more time with her family. We wish her nothing but the best and are so grateful for the time we have enjoyed with her.

Please be assured, West Atlanta Pediatrics will continue to serve our families with the same care and support that you have come to expect from our practice.

West Atlanta Pediatrics is looking for a part-time Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join us at our Lithia Springs and Dallas offices — 3 days a week.

We have been caring for west Georgia families since 1992, and we're looking for someone who fits the way we do things: unhurried visits, real relationships, and providers who know your child's name before they walk in the room.

✏️ Back to School!! ✏️

The first day of school is quickly approaching! Summer check up spots are filling up quickly (call for availability!) before the beginning of school but we will gladly see your little one for their annual visit throughout the year per your insurance policy (per calendar year, age, etc.)

A few friendly reminders:

📍As we approach the beginning of the school year, we would like to remind all parents and guardians of children currently being treated for ADD/ADHD, Asthma, or requiring an EpiPen to ensure that all necessary prescriptions and forms are in place prior to the start of school. Please take a moment to review the following:

📍For ADD/ADHD Patients: If your child is prescribed medication for ADD/ADHD, please remember that a follow-up appointment is required every 90 to 180 days (per your insurance requirements, Medicaid is every 90 days or 3 months, Commercial/Private insurance is every 180 days or 6 months) to continue the treatment plan. This ensures that their medication is properly managed and effective.

📍For Asthma Patients: If your child uses inhalers or nebulizers for asthma management, a follow-up appointment is required every 6 months. Additionally, some insurance companies may not cover the cost of inhalers or nebulizers if your child is due for a follow-up visit.

📍For EpiPen Users: If your child requires an EpiPen for severe allergic reactions, please make sure that they have an up-to-date prescription and that you have extra EpiPens available, especially for school.

📍If your child is due for an appointment or prescription refill, we strongly recommend calling us 2-3 weeks before their medication runs out to schedule their follow-up visit. This will allow time for any potential delays with doctor availability or medication shortages.

🦠 Let’s talk about cyclosporiasis! 🦠

Cyclosporiasis is a parasitic intestinal infection from contaminated food and water. The infection can cause excessive and prolonged watery diarrhea, abdominal cramping, fatigue, and dehydration. Symptoms can linger for weeks and then return. Please see the attached link for information regarding this infection and ways to prevent infection and treat symptoms. Not all vomiting and diarrhea will be caused by cyclospora, and not all vomiting and diarrhea will respond to an antibiotic.

‼️ It’s always wise to have an emergency plan in place!

Your family should have an exit and safety plan in place in cases of fire or emergencies. Review this plan at least twice a year with your family members in order to stay up to date. ‼️
