What changes when young people stop seeing public health as something distant and begin recognizing it as something they participate in every day through their choices, environments, and relationships?

Join Our Pinky Promise Movement 💚💙

At Village Public Health, our Pinky Promise is more than a statement. It is a commitment to show up for young people, families, and communities with love, intention, and action.

We promise to keep igniting hope, inspiring possibilities, and instilling confidence for a promising future.

Every dream matters.
Every young person deserves a village.
Every act of care has the power to shape what comes next.

Whether big or small, we all have a role in creating spaces where hope shines brightly, possibilities feel within reach, and confidence leads the way.

This is our promise.
This is our movement.
This is Village Public Health.

💚 Make the pledge.
💙 Be part of the village.
✨ Help us build a future our young people can believe in.

The Porch Light Framework™ reminds us that healing, safety, and stability are not built only through systems. They are built through visible care, trusted relationships, consistency, and community presence.

For many of us, the porch light meant:
• Somebody was home
• Somebody was watching
• Somebody cared if you made it back safely
• Somebody created space for you to land

From a public health perspective, mothers often become the “porch lights” of their homes and communities.

They are the reminders.
The protectors.
The emotional first responders.
The planners.
The safe spaces.
The bridge between chaos and calm.

Research continues to show that strong, supportive relationships serve as protective factors for youth mental health, resilience, academic success, and long-term wellness. The Porch Light Framework™ centers those protective factors by reminding us that people thrive when they feel seen, supported, and connected.

Today we honor:
• The mothers carrying the mental load quietly
• The grandmothers stepping in again
• The single mothers building villages from scratch
• The mothers balancing careers, caregiving, and purpose
• The women mothering while healing themselves
• The bonus moms, aunties, mentors, and community caregivers who keep their porch lights on for others

Public health is not only policy.
Sometimes it looks like lunch notes.
Sometimes it sounds like “text me when you get there.”
Sometimes it feels like a mother sitting in the parking lot waiting for practice to end.

That matters too.

The Porch Light Framework™ teaches us that communities become healthier when people feel connected, protected, and valued.

So today, we celebrate the women whose lights continue to guide families home.

Happy Mother’s Day from Village Public Health 🌿

Wednesday Wisdom has a new name, and it feels more like home.

Welcome to On the Porch with Dr. Q 🏡

A space where we sit, reflect, and talk about the things that don’t always get said out loud, but live heavy in our everyday lives.

This Wednesday, I’m clocking in for a conversation that sits close to me:

The mental load of high-achieving single moms.

The planning.
The remembering.
The carrying.
The showing up, even when you’re tired.

Not just what we do, but what we hold.

If you’ve ever felt like your mind never turns off, like you’re managing everything for everyone while still trying to build something meaningful for yourself, this conversation is for you.

Pull up a chair.
Meet me on the porch.

🕰️ This Wednesday.

What is one thing you’ve been carrying that nobody else sees?
