SPOHNC was founded by oral cancer survivor, Nancy Leupold in 1991, when few resources existed for this patient population. Today, SPOHNC is a vital source of support, education, and hope for patients, caregivers, survivors, and friends. The Outreach Program includes over 100+ CHAPTER SUPPORT GROUPS throughout the U.S, a National Survivor Volunteer Network whereby patients are matched according to

their diagnosis and treatment. A state of the art monthly newsletter, informative e-postcards and additional resources listed on our website.

We’re excited to reveal our final guest speaker for our upcoming webinar — Dr. Parual Dua Makkar.

Dr. Parul Dua Makkar is an award-winning dentist practicing on Long Island. She is an educator, author, and keynote speaker who is redefining what it means to care for patients—and ourselves—in dentistry. After losing her younger brother, Dr. Manu Dua, to oral cancer, she transformed personal tragedy into a mission to educate healthcare professionals on early detection, compassionate communication, and the human side of clinical care.

As the founder of Dua Good Job™, Dr. Makkar has educated clinicians nationally through continuing education courses, conferences, publications, podcasts, and webinars focused on oral cancer prevention, patient advocacy, and clinician well-being. Her award-winning book, Life Interrupted: Dr. Dua's Survival Guide, and her work as a Wellness Ambassador for the American Dental Association reflect her commitment to helping healthcare professionals combine clinical excellence with compassion, resilience, and purpose.

We’re excited to reveal another one of our guest speakers for our upcoming webinar — Dr. Ryan Lee.

Dr. Ryan S. Lee is a dental oncologist and implantologist who focuses on dental-medical integration, data interoperability, and medically-complex oral rehabilitation. He has served as Chief Dental Officer for university/hospital/FQHC settings, as well as Dental Director with federal partners (payors, government agencies).

Dr. Lee completed his Fellowship in Dental Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center after obtaining his DDS at NYU College of Dentistry. Since 2009, he has served as a military officer, currently holding the rank of Lieutenant Colonel with the US Army Reserve.

We're Revealing one of our guest speakers for our upcoming webinar — Dr. Robert Haberkorn.

Dr Haberkorn is an Oral Health specialist and Dentist with advanced education in Oral Cancer, Oral Medicine, Oral Facial Pain Management, Facial Esthetics, and Sleep Medicine. He is a 1986 graduate of UMKC School of Dentistry with honors. He won the Dentsply International Achievement Award for Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry for the Class of 1986.

Dr. Haberkorn has completed residencies at Baylor University in Implantology and The University of Florida in Oral Oncology and Oral Medicine. He holds the Bronze Level of Clinic Fundamentals and Quality Improvement from The Mayo Clinic, and additionally received advanced training in Sleep Medicine from The Mayo Clinic. He is a graduate of the L.D. Pankey Institute with advanced training in Orofacial pain and TMJ therapy.

Dr Haberkorn earned his Master's in Laser Therapy from the Academy of Laser Dentistry, after being a pioneer in the utilization of soft and hard tissue lasers in oral health and he completed an Internship at Tufts University in Oral Oncology. He also earned a certificate in Advanced Dysphagia Care from MD Anderson.
