One of the questions I get asked most often is, “What exactly happens during a Forest Therapy session?” 🌿
Forest Therapy is so much more than simply walking through the woods. It is an intentional opportunity to unplug, slow down, and reconnect — with both nature and yourself.
During a session, we take a very slow and mindful walk through the forest, allowing ourselves to truly touch, feel, listen to, and breathe in the world around us. There is no rush, no pressure, and no expectation other than simply being present.
We incorporate guided meditation to help quiet the nervous system and gently bring awareness back to our senses. There is also an artful expression left behind as a thank you to Mother Nature for hosting us, followed by a peaceful tea ceremony and time for reflective thoughts and conversation. 💚
Forest Therapy has been shown in multiple studies to help lower cortisol levels (our body’s primary stress hormone), reduce anxiety, improve mood, and even increase focus and mental clarity. Some studies on “Shinrin-yoku” or “forest bathing” found participants experienced significantly lower stress levels and improved feelings of calm, comfort, and refreshment after spending intentional time in the forest.
This experience is designed to be a reset for your nervous system. A space for rest. Recovery. Reflection. A reminder that slowing down is not laziness — it is necessary.
And if being deep in the woods feels intimidating or unfamiliar to you, that is completely okay too. Forest Therapy does not have to take place on a mountain trail or in dense wilderness. This same grounding experience can happen in a backyard, a garden, a quiet park, or any green space where you feel safe and comfortable. 🌱 Nature meets you where you are.
I truly believe every single person could benefit from this kind of intentional pause in nature. We spend so much of life overstimulated, overworked, and disconnected from ourselves. Sometimes healing begins by simply allowing ourselves to breathe deeply again.
So I’d love to hear from you:
🌱 When was the last time you truly slowed down?
🌱 Do you feel calmer when you spend time outdoors?
🌱 What would it feel like to give yourself permission to rest without guilt?
Please feel free to ask any questions you may have below. The more we talk about experiences like this, the more people we can reach who may truly benefit from reconnecting with nature and themselves.
