🐾❤️ Happy National Dog Day! ❤️🐾

Today we’re celebrating all the wonderful things dogs bring into our lives—and we can’t forget our very own Freddie, the WoodBridge Therapy Dog! 🐶

Freddie is truly a special treat for our residents. His visits bring smiles, laughter, comfort, and a little extra joy to their day. There’s just something about the unconditional love of a dog that can brighten a room and warm a heart. ❤️

And it’s not just our residents who love Freddie—our families and staff enjoy seeing him too! He has a special way of bringing everyone together and creating those sweet moments that become wonderful memories.

We are so lucky to have Freddie as part of the WoodBridge family. 🐾🏡

Creative Cooking on Legacy Lane!
Our crew had a sweet time making Peanut Blossoms! Everyone pitched in to help make the mix, flatten out the cookies, and, of course, we couldn’t forget the most important part… taste-testing our delicious creations!
We had lots of fun working together and enjoying the fruits (or should we say cookies?!) of our labor.

🦆 George Got to Live a Dream! ❤️

Today was a very special surprise for George—and one we will never forget! We gave him clues along the way, and Lauren and Crystal came up with Clue #1: a camouflage shirt and hat. 🎣🦆

Then it was off to Clue #2—meeting up with an old friend, the person who takes care of someone very special to George.

And then came the final surprise… BUBBA! 🐾❤️

Bubba is George’s old duck-hunting companion and his beloved hunting dog. The smile on George’s face when he saw him said it all. He couldn’t believe that Bubba is still going strong at 14 years old!

George will tell you, “That was my hunting buddy.” Hearing George and his friend reminisce about Bubba was absolutely priceless. George talked about how Bubba was the best hunting dog he ever had. He would get right into the water—even when it was freezing cold—because that’s what a good hunting dog does!

And George will also proudly tell you, “I paid good money for that dog!”

Did you know there is such a thing as a British Labrador Retriever? Well, neither did I until today! That’s Bubba’s breed, and George sure knew what a special dog he had all those years ago.

Dogs truly are a man’s best friend, and the bond between George and Bubba is proof of that. ❤️🐶🦆

Today wasn’t just a visit—it was a chance for George to live a dream, revisit some wonderful memories, and spend time with his best hunting buddy one more time.

🎣 Catch Ya!!! 🐟

Just hanging out by the fish pond trying to catch some fish… not really! But these little guys sure are a wonderful addition to our courtyard!

This is year two, and we still have our original six fish! We were also lucky enough to have a staff member donate one of their child’s fair fish to us, bringing our total to seven!

Our residents love taking care of the fish, watching them swim, and helping feed them. It has become such a fun and relaxing part of our courtyard!

But now we’re wondering… Will seven still be enough next year? We may have to expand the pond!

Our residents journeyed to Lafayette for a wonderful afternoon at the Columbia Park Zoo!

From petting the goats to searching for the owls and enjoying all the sights and sounds of the zoo, our residents had such a fun time making memories together. We love getting out and about and enjoying new adventures with our residents!

What an unforgettable day for our very own Dixie! ❤️🏍️🇺🇸 Dixie is so much more than a nurse, Veteran, cancer survivor, and daughter. During her retirement years, she spent countless days riding her BMW motorcycle around the country, making memories and enjoying the open road.
This past week, one of our very own QMAs, Kim Hopper, made it possible for Dixie to experience that feeling again. Kim, who is also a proud member of the AMVETS, hopped on her motorcycle with Dixie riding on the back, joined by a wonderful group of AMVETS members and staff who came out to ride alongside them.
The crowd gathered to cheer Dixie on as she headed out for her ride—and she was completely shocked! We had managed to keep the entire surprise a secret for weeks! 🥰
The group took the back roads through some of Dixie’s old stomping grounds, including the big town of Anoka and a stop by her church. On the way back, they stopped so Dixie could enjoy the waterfall before heading back to campus, where her family was waiting with yet another surprise!
And because we all know what a huge Caitlin Clark fan Dixie is, she was gifted a Fever jersey, and her nephew surprised her with a Caitlin Clark vinyl character. 🏀❤️
