Hey friends, it’s been a while and figure it is time for a very overdue update since tomorrow marks one year since my first surgery.
The good news is that my scans remain clear and I remain in remission from breast cancer. 💖
The not-so-great news is that due to physical limitations as a result of side effects from my treatments, I will no longer offer permanent makeup and henna brow services. I hope to be able to provide wedding makeup services in the near future but for now, consider this a sabbatical.
I truly believed that I would be back to “normal” once my cancer was gone. I slowly learned, as many other cancer survivors do, this wasn’t going to happen. I don’t really like the term “new normal” (probably because we have heard it ad nauseam the last 3 years) but that is where I am at…a new normal. One that involves taking medications daily to keep cancer from returning and supplements to ease the side effects of surgical menopause, going to acupuncture to help minimize bone pain and carpal tunnel syndrome, using a lymphatic pump to keep my lymphedema from getting worse, getting scans every 6 months, and reprioritizing my life.
Over the last year, I’ve realized how quickly my boys are growing up (the oldest applies to college in a few months!) and how spending time with my husband and family is of the utmost importance. There will always be faces for me to paint but the time with my kids is fleeting.
I’m truly grateful for each and every one of my clients over these last 8 years. Every person that has sent me a referral, mentioned my business in a local Facebook group, or shared just one of my posts has helped my business grow.
If you are in need of a brow artist or makeup artist in the Chicago area, I am happy to refer you to one. Like I said before…it’s not goodbye, it’s see you later.
❤️,
April
