❌ The usual path: physical therapy, then wait, then see an orthopedist, then IR only as a last resort.

✅ Where things are heading: IR and orthopedics in the same conversation earlier, with embolization discussed as one option among several rather than only after everything else has failed. 🦵

As Bone and Joint Health Action Week kicks off, it's worth knowing "see an orthopedist" isn't always the only next step. 💙

📩 DM us to ask if embolization could be an option for your joint pain.

Most people know we treat knee pain. Here's what a lot of patients don't realize. 🦵

✅ Hip osteoarthritis and hip bursitis
✅ Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis)
✅ Shoulder pain, including frozen shoulder
✅ Plantar fasciitis (heel pain)
✅ Knee osteoarthritis

If it's a joint dealing with chronic pain and inflammation, there's a good chance embolization is worth exploring. 💙

📌 Save this list, you might be surprised how many of these apply to you or someone you know.

❌ Myth: treating tennis elbow long term means surgery on the elbow itself.

✅ Fact: elbow artery embolization is performed through a tiny access point in the wrist, not the elbow at all. 💪 A catheter is guided from there to the small blood vessels feeding inflammation around the elbow.

For lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow) that hasn't improved with rest, bracing, or injections, this offers another option before considering surgery. 💙

💬 Comment ELBOW if rest and bracing haven't fixed it, and we'll walk you through what's next.

A lot of patients dealing with hip pain describe the same frustrating gap: not bad enough for a replacement yet, but bad enough that daily life is affected anyway. 🦵

Hip artery embolization exists specifically for that gap. It targets the inflamed blood vessels driving the pain, without touching the joint itself, giving appropriate patients a real option while they wait or explore alternatives to surgery.

💬 Not ready for a new hip? Comment HIP and we'll tell you if embolization could be your in-between option.

Not all shoulder pain is "just soreness." ⚠️

A few signs it's worth paying attention to:
• Pain that's stuck around for more than a few weeks
• Weakness when lifting or reaching overhead
• A catching or grinding feeling with movement
• Pain that wakes you up at night

None of these mean it's automatically serious, but they do mean it's worth getting checked instead of waiting it out. 🩺

For ongoing shoulder pain, Dr. Kovaleski offers shoulder artery embolization (SAE), a minimally invasive option that targets the inflammation behind the pain.

📌 Save this for the next time your shoulder acts up.

Did you know chronic pain is one of the most common reasons adults in the U.S. seek medical care? 📊

Yet it's still one of the most under-treated. A lot of people live with pain for years before ever exploring options beyond medication or "just dealing with it."

Knee, shoulder, hip, and elbow pain are among the conditions we treat with minimally invasive, image-guided procedures, often with little downtime. 💙

📌 Save this as a reminder that ongoing pain is always worth a second look.

Worried you might have PAD? Here is what that visit actually involves. 🩺

✔️ We talk through your symptoms, your history, and what your legs do on a normal day
✔️ We check the pulses in your legs and feet
✔️ An ABI compares the blood pressure at your ankle to the blood pressure at your arm, and it takes just a few minutes
✔️ An ultrasound gives us a closer look at blood flow if we need one

Nothing about that first visit is invasive, and you can get real answers from it. 🦵

If we do find a blockage, treatment is usually minimally invasive. A small catheter, image guidance, and most patients head home the same day.

As Pain Awareness Month wraps up, here's the one thing worth holding onto: chronic pain isn't something you're supposed to just accept. ⚠️

Whether it's a knee, a shoulder, a hip, or something else entirely, ongoing pain deserves an actual answer, not a lifetime of managing around it. Minimally invasive options exist for more conditions than most people realize, often with far less downtime than expected.

The first step is simple: understanding what's actually causing it. 💙

What's one thing you learned about pain treatment this month? Tell us in the comments.

09/25/2026

A lot of patients aren't sure what to expect walking into a first appointment for chronic pain, so here's the honest version.

It usually starts with just talking. Not a rushed five minutes, but a real conversation about what's actually going on, what's already been tried, and what matters most to you day to day. From there, imaging or further evaluation might come next, but only if it's actually needed to understand what's happening.

By the end, the goal isn't just a diagnosis. It's a plan that makes sense for your life, not a generic one pulled off a shelf. 💙
