👟 MYTH OR FACT: If your shoes don’t hurt, they fit correctly.

❌ MYTH!

Shoes can be the wrong fit even before they start causing pain.

A good-fitting shoe should:

👣 Give your toes enough room to move
👟 Hold your heel securely without slipping
🦶 Feel comfortable without pinching or pressure
📏 Leave a little space between your longest toe and the end of the shoe

Shoes that are too tight, too loose, or simply the wrong shape for your foot can contribute to blisters, calluses, corns, toenail problems, and foot pain over time.

Quick Tip: Shop for shoes later in the day, when your feet may be slightly more swollen, and always try on both shoes before buying.

Your feet spend a lot of time in your shoes — make sure they’re happy in there! 😊

👟 Quick Tip Tuesday: Give Your Shoes a Check!

Heading into a long holiday weekend? Take a quick look at the shoes you’ll be wearing.

If the soles are worn unevenly, the cushioning feels flat, or your feet and legs seem more tired than usual after wearing them, your shoes may be ready for retirement.

Good support can make a big difference—especially when your weekend plans include plenty of time on your feet!

👣 Your feet carry you everywhere. Give them a little attention before they start asking for it.

👣 Don’t Let Foot Pain Slow You Down

Summer may be winding down, but there’s still plenty of time to stay active and enjoy the things you love.

If foot or ankle pain is making you change the way you walk, skip activities, or reach for a different pair of shoes just to get comfortable, it may be time to have it checked.

Small problems are often easier to treat before they become bigger ones.

🦶 MYTH OR FACT?

“If I can still walk on it, my foot or ankle can't be broken.”

❌ MYTH!

Being able to walk doesn’t always rule out a fracture. Some fractures — including stress fractures — may still allow you to put weight on your foot, even though it hurts.

Pain, swelling, bruising, or tenderness that isn’t getting better shouldn’t be ignored.
👣 When in doubt, get it checked. Your feet are pretty important transportation!

Pain in the back of your ankle when you walk?

Achilles tendinitis can cause pain, stiffness, or tenderness along the back of the ankle — especially first thing in the morning or when you start moving after sitting.

It’s easy to brush it off and hope it goes away, but continuing to push through the pain can make the problem harder to settle down.

👣 If the back of your ankle has been bothering you, it may be time to have it checked.

We just added a new article answering common questions about Achilles tendon pain. Visit our website to learn more.

🤔 MYTH OR FACT?

“If my heel only hurts when I first get out of bed, it's probably nothing.”

❌ MYTH!

Heel pain that's especially noticeable with your first few steps in the morning is a common symptom of plantar fasciitis.

And while it may loosen up once you start moving, that doesn't necessarily mean the problem is going away.

Persistent heel pain deserves attention—especially if it's starting to interfere with walking, exercise, or your normal routine.

👣 We're here to help get you back on your feet.

👣 Foot pain has a funny way of starting small…

A little heel pain in the morning.
An ingrown toenail that's getting tender.
Arch pain after a long day.
A bunion that's suddenly bothering you more than usual.

It can be tempting to wait and see if it goes away—but many foot problems are much easier to treat when they're addressed early.

If something doesn't feel right, let us take a look. Your feet shouldn't be something you just “put up with.”

⛷️ Even Olympians Can’t Rush Healing

Olympic champion Lindsey Vonn suffered a complex ankle fracture during the 2026 Winter Olympics—and months later, she has shared that her ankle is still broken and her recovery continues.

Her story is a good reminder that foot and ankle injuries don’t always heal on the timetable we expect.

If you’ve twisted an ankle, taken a fall, or had an injury you thought was “just a sprain,” pay attention if the pain, swelling, or difficulty walking isn’t improving.

👉 If it still hurts, don’t just keep walking on it and hope it goes away.

An evaluation can help determine whether you’re dealing with a fracture, ligament injury, tendon problem, or something else.

👣 Let us help you get back on your feet. Schedule an appointment with Sol Foot & Ankle Centers today.
