Chest pain with activity can quietly shrink a life.

A 360-person double-blind trial found that the exact Tongmai Jiangtang capsule studied, added to prescribed care, improved angina classification in more participants than placebo after 12 weeks. The signal was meaningful for symptoms—but it did not lower HbA1c, establish fewer heart attacks, or answer long-term safety questions.

This is not a DIY supplement or a replacement for cardiology and diabetes care. Save this evidence check, share it with someone who values careful integrative care, and follow for more research-informed Traditional Chinese Medicine education.

Go to bed. Wear your blue light blockers. “Let the mind be peaceful.” Don’t disperse energy by too much outward focus.

Easy to say. Harder to create a place of peace to return to nightly.

Fortify the protective qi. Herbs and Acu. Herbs first always.

Join us on Fri, 10/23/26 from 10-1 for our OC Acu Free Clinic, first-come, first-served.

Our Santa Ana free clinic lands on the very first day of Frost's Descent, the last solar term of autumn and the bridge into winter.

In Chinese medicine, this is a time to slow down, stay warm, and build your reserves before the cold season. As the old saying goes, nourishing yourself now does more good than waiting until winter.

Join us for our Santa Ana free community acupuncture event with Sunny Choi, LAc, the newest practitioner on the Urban Salt team. Sunny believes healing starts with listening.

In her words: "Your symptoms aren't problems to silence. They're wisdom asking to be heard." Her approach is about observing the patterns behind what you're feeling and restoring balance, working with your body instead of against it.

Sunny earned her Master of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from South Baylo University, where her clinical internship focused on chronic pain, acute injuries, stress-related conditions, and musculoskeletal issues. Before acupuncture, she worked as a physical therapy aide and volunteered in pediatric, hand therapy, and therapeutic riding programs, so she brings a hands-on, rehab-minded perspective to her treatments. She's also trained in kinesio taping and instrument-assisted soft tissue work, and speaks Korean fluently.

Join us right here in Long Beach on Sunday, 10/18/26 for our LB Acu Free Clinic.

We're deep in Cold Dew, the solar term when mornings turn crisp and the body starts drawing its energy inward.

In Chinese medicine this is Lung season, a time to guard against dryness and that first chill (yes, even if SoCal hasn't gotten the memo yet today geez). It's the perfect moment to slow down and give your system some support before winter.

Join us for a free acupuncture clinic with Dr. Michael Adams, DACM, LAc, Urban Salt board member and our Director of Education. Raised on the East Coast by a father who practiced medicine, Dr. Adams grew up seeing what healthcare could do, and that sparked a curiosity about the full spectrum of healing. Chinese medicine gave him a way to treat the whole person in a way that works alongside modern care, not against it.

His training spans two of California's top Chinese medicine graduate programs, advanced clinical work in Beijing, and a background in movement and performance science. He brings real depth in
-Orthopedic pain
-Hormonal health
-& Nervous system regulation-

Blending modern acupuncture research with classical theory to get at the root patterns behind your symptoms.

In his words: "I treat each patient as a whole system, addressing symptoms while targeting the underlying patterns that disrupt health."

✨ WE TREAT THE WHOLE PERSON—NOT JUST THE SYMPTOM. ✨

HERBAL FORMULA SERIES
🌿 Si Wu Tang 四物湯 🌿
“Four Herbs Unite—Awaken the Blood, Restore the Balance!”

Meet the Four Herbal Heroes:

🛡️ Shu Di Huang — The Restorer
Traditionally used to deeply nourish Blood and Yin.

🌸 Bai Shao — The Protector
Nourishes Blood, preserves Yin, and supports harmony.

🔥 Dang Gui — The Harmonizer
Nourishes while gently encouraging Blood movement.

⚔️ Chuan Xiong — The Mover
Promotes the movement of Qi and Blood to prevent stagnation.

Together, Si Wu Tang is traditionally used to nourish and regulate Blood when a person’s individual TCM pattern calls for it. A practitioner may evaluate signs such as a pale complexion, dizziness, dryness, fatigue, scanty menstruation, or menstrual irregularity—but symptoms alone do not determine the formula.

⚠️ A professional TCM diagnosis is required.

Si Wu Tang is not a one-size-fits-all tonic. Before recommending it, a licensed TCM practitioner must evaluate your complete health history, symptoms, tongue, pulse, medications, supplements, menstrual history, and overall constitution. The formula may need to be modified—or a completely different formula may be more appropriate.

Herbs are powerful allies, but the right herbal team must be chosen for the right person. Do not self-prescribe, especially during pregnancy, with abnormal or heavy bleeding, or while taking prescription medications.

Educational information only. Chinese herbal medicine should not replace necessary medical evaluation or treatment.

Unclench. Exhale. Let your jaw soften.

From a TCM perspective, ST6 (Jiache) is traditionally used for jaw and facial tension. Find the masseter by gently clenching, then relax and apply light pressure near the muscle’s prominence for 20–30 seconds per side.

Use gentle pressure only. Avoid swollen or injured areas and stop if it hurts. This educational practice isn’t a substitute for medical or dental care.

🫁Give your voice a quieter minute.

Pause conversation, relax your jaw, and sip water or a comfortably warm drink if it suits you.

From a traditional TCM perspective, LU10 Yuji is traditionally used to benefit the throat region and clear Lung heat. Find it on the thenar eminence, at the midpoint of the first metacarpal where the red and white skin meet. Apply gentle pressure for 10–15 seconds, then release. LU10 point reference

Never self-needle. Avoid irritated skin and stop if painful. Persistent voice changes or difficulty breathing or swallowing require professional care.

Why we are unique:

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is a comprehensive system of healthcare that includes acupuncture, herbal medicine, moxibustion, cupping, gua sha, tui na therapeutic massage, dietary therapy, and therapeutic exercises such as qigong and tai chi. Although individual techniques—including cupping, gua sha, and dry needling—may also be used by massage therapists, physical therapists, and Western medical providers after short certification courses, licensed acupuncturists typically complete four to seven years of master’s- or doctoral-level education. Their extensive training integrates Chinese medical diagnosis, acupuncture theory and technique, herbal medicine, Western biomedical sciences, patient safety, and supervised clinical practice, allowing them to apply these modalities comprehensively rather than as isolated techniques.
