Join us at Walden Ponds Wildlife Habitat for a leisurely 1- to 3-mile walk on wide, flat trails as we observe signs of spring bird migration. Listen for the waterfowl and songbirds looking for their mates and preparing for summer. Keep an eye out for hunting raptors like Osprey and Bald eagles, and the scattered running of shorebirds along the pond’s edge. The pace will be set by our most curious participant, making this a relaxed and enjoyable outing for all.

Spring evenings are an ideal time to look beyond our own Milky Way, as well as the Lyrid meteor shower. Join Boulder County volunteer naturalists for a friendly and engaging look at the Virgo Cluster, a region of the sky filled with universes far beyond our own. We’ll talk about what galaxies are, how they form, and why this cluster is such a treat for stargazers.

Presentations will be at the picnic shelter, followed by stargazing in the parking area. The Longmont Astronomical Society provides telescopes to help bring these dim and distant objects into view. Bring a chair or blanket, a light jacket, and a red flashlight, and get ready to enjoy a night under the stars!

Join volunteer naturalists on a mostly flat, 3-mile, out-and-back hike to the aspen groves at Caribou Ranch. While resting among the trees, we will practice mindful observation. Learn what we have discovered about aspens, mindfulness, and the natural world, and what remains unknown. We'll take time to reflect together on what we have observed and what we can still learn from nature.
