Over the past quarter-century, research into essential oils and aromatic volatile compounds has accelerated at an unprecedented pace. Advances in analytical chemistry, clinical trials, and pharmacological mechanisms have expanded our scientific understanding of aromatics, yet the professional framework of Aromatherapy itself has remained largely stagnant. Despite a growing body of empirical data, the field continues to struggle with issues of credibility, scope of practice, and professional recognition, leaving a wide gap between scientific discovery and field-level integration.
The Aromapologist addressed this disconnect by examining the sociological and epistemological challenges holding the field back in her latest Substack.
