Benefits renewal season is around the corner, which means some important conversations are about to happen.

What’s working? What isn’t? Are employees actually using their benefits? And is the investment creating value for both employees and the business?

Getting employees actually to use their healthcare benefits is often easier said than done. High costs, limited access to care, and long waits can all stand in the way.

For one Dallas automotive group, 59% of employees engaged with a KerixHealth physician within just 10 months.

Their experience shows what can happen when some of those barriers are removed.

As employers start thinking about their benefits strategy for 2027, this story offers valuable takeaways on access, engagement, and the impact of a different approach to healthcare.

Some doctors measure a good visit by how fast it ends. Dr. Jocelyn Wolf measures it by how much of your story she got to hear.

We're glad to welcome Dr. Wolf to KerixHealth in Olathe. She's a board-certified family medicine physician with more than 15 years caring for patients at every stage of life, from newborns to grandparents. Before joining us, she spent over a decade with Saint Luke's Health System and practiced full-spectrum family medicine with ComCare PA.

Here's why she made the move to Direct Primary Care, in her own words:

"The most rewarding part of medicine has been building lasting relationships with my patients and supporting them through every stage of life. This model removes the barriers of traditional healthcare so I can spend more time with you, focus on prevention, and be there when you actually need me."

As Dr. Wolf's patient, you get unlimited office visits, longer, unrushed appointments, same- or next-day scheduling when available, and a direct line to your physician. One membership covers your care- no copays, no deductibles, no surprise bills.

Her new office:
16081 S. Bradley Dr., Olathe, KS 66062

From 1997 to 2021, employees at 21st Century Equipment had exactly one health plan. If you wanted insurance, that was it.

Ann Palm is VP of HR there. It's a John Deere dealership with 25 locations spread across roughly 11,000 square miles of Nebraska, Colorado, and Wyoming. When an employee survey came back describing the benefits in blunt terms, she knew something had to change.

At the Hint Summit, she sat down with Dr. Clint Flanagan and Katie Harmon to walk through what happened next.

For years, they dismissed direct primary care as too good to be true. Eventually, they stress-tested it, put the pitch in front of six different groups inside the company, and told each one to find the hole in it. Nobody could.

They signed with ten days left before open enrollment. Twenty-five locations, hour-long meetings at each, spouses invited.

The math had a threshold. Ann knew what percentage of her employees had to choose the DPC plan for the premiums to work, and she was not confident they would reach that threshold.

Three minutes, in her own words.

If you're building your 2027 plan, we're happy to talk it through. Learn more at https://www.kerixhealth.com/contact

What if a doctor’s visit didn’t feel rushed?

A KerixHealth member once shared that they felt truly comfortable and listened to during a visit. Their physician took the time to create a plan to address their concerns and made it clear that she’d be available if anything else came up.

There was no strict time limit. No feeling like they needed to hurry through their questions before the next appointment.

That’s the difference relationship-based primary care can make.

At KerixHealth, you have a physician who has the time to listen, answer your questions, and follow up when you need it. It’s healthcare built around an ongoing relationship, not just one appointment at a time.

Our members often talk about the same things: being treated like people, getting real answers to their questions, and having a doctor who knows them.

Going to the doctor should feel like you’re being cared for, not rushed through.

Pharmacy costs are rising faster than any other category of healthcare spending.

According to Milliman’s 2026 Medical Index, pharmacy costs rose 14.8% year-over-year, with GLP-1 medications for diabetes and weight management cited as a key driver.

But as more people turn to GLP-1s, one thing is becoming increasingly clear: medication is only one part of effective metabolic health management.

GLP-1 treatment can involve much more than getting a prescription. Nutrition, lab work, side effects, other health conditions, and medication adjustments all require ongoing attention.

That’s where continuous primary care matters.

With a physician who has the time to understand your health as a whole and follow your progress over time, your care can extend beyond the prescription to support the full course of treatment.

Taking a GLP-1 is only part of the strategy. Get the ongoing care to support your health around it.

Rushed vaccine conversations fuel hesitancy rather than resolve it.

Every August, National Immunization Awareness Month coincides with back-to-school physicals, making it an ideal time to consider why vaccine discussions often feel hurried.

Most primary care physicians manage panels of over 2,000 patients.

Direct Primary Care physicians typically care for only a few hundred. This difference matters most in the time available to answer parents’ questions, explain vaccine schedules, and address concerns in depth.

At KerixHealth, physicians intentionally build ample time into every visit. With smaller patient panels, in-depth vaccine conversations are standard rather than a scheduling challenge.

Immunization decisions deserve thoughtful, unhurried conversations with a trusted physician who knows the patient. That’s the model we’ve created.

"As a senior citizen, I finally feel acknowledged, truly listened to, and genuinely cared for."

That’s not just a tagline; it’s what one of our members shared after enrolling in KerixHealth through her employer’s benefits program.

It’s also a reminder of how rare that experience has become. The average primary care visit lasts less than 20 minutes. Patients are frequently assigned to a different provider each time. Questions feel rushed, and building meaningful relationships is increasingly difficult.

Direct primary care is designed differently. Without insurance billing dictating visit volume, physicians have the time to truly get to know their patients, answer every question, and provide care that isn’t limited by the clock.

Same-or next-day appointments, continuity with a single physician, and unhurried conversations aren’t luxuries; they’re what primary care was always meant to be.

When physicians have the time to truly know their patients, the experience of care changes in ways that matter.

Your body doesn't separate physical health from mental health. Why should your healthcare?

Stress can show up as high blood pressure. Anxiety can affect sleep. Depression can make chronic conditions harder to manage.

Yet our healthcare system has traditionally treated physical and mental health as separate conversations.

The American Psychological Association recently highlighted why integrated care is becoming increasingly important: when healthcare providers work together and primary care takes a whole-person approach, patients experience better outcomes.

At KerixHealth, we believe that excellent primary care begins with listening. Longer appointments and a continuous relationship with your physician allow for comprehensive discussions about your health, not just the specific symptom that prompted your visit today.

Healthcare is more effective when we consider the whole person. The APA article is definitely worth reading. 👇

As health care moves toward whole-person treatment, psychologists thrive as team members.
