November marks the anniversary of Limitless Nutrition, and we are celebrating FOUR years of being!

I love measures of time like this. Taking a moment to reflect on what has happened and celebrate wins.

In the fourth year of my business, I continued to offer 1:1 nutrition counseling, still focusing on athletes who desire a peaceful relationship with food, body, and movement. Beyond the identity of an athlete: the moms and dads who are struggling to feed themselves and their kids, the adults who want to manage their diabetes and heart disease while also working on sports nutrition, and the high school/collegiate students who want simplicity on top of school, practice, and social lives.

My favorite events have been offering in-person nutrition talks at local high schools and gyms, and conducting online webinars and workshops. I’m in-network with Blue Shield of California, so if your workplace offers this insurance, I’d be happy to give a nutrition presentation on how to use your insurance benefits (most likely getting nutrition consults for a minimal copay or for free!).

I was featured in a few different articles: SELF, Popsugar, Women’s Health Mag, and VegNEws. You can find them at the links in my bio 🎤

I am doing some BTS work for a couple companies, supporting them in their nutrition marketing and messaging. It’s also been exciting to help develop new opportunities for RDs of color.

In June, I started my official Chair year for , and it’s been so much fun. I love leading a team like this, bringing a wide range of continuing education topics to dietitians who want to be more than just their jobs, managing a budget and Plan of Work, and writing monthly and quarterly Chair letters to our membership.

Thank you for being here, for supporting an Asian-owned, woman-owned small business, for continuing to be curious and willing to learn, and for being a part of the Limitless Nutrition community. Whether you’re a past or present client, colleague, share my information with loved ones in your lives, or participate in the Friday polls, you are a part of this! So thank you, thank you, thank you.

Hi everyone! If we’ve met before, hi again! If we haven’t, I’d love to get to know you. I always like an intro post, or re-intro post, so here’s mine through emojis. And I’d love to see your emoji and corresponding fun fact!

✌️I was first introduced to nutrition as a career when I interned with a USC sports dietitian and thought it was SO cool to work with athletes. I switched my major from Biomedical Engineering to Human Biology with a Nutrition and Metabolism emphasis (yep, still a mouthful) and never looked back.

🐉 I went on to get my Masters in Human Nutrition at Drexel University, where I was surrounded with folks who wanted to become registered dietitians and I loved it. Philly will always have a special place in my heart.

📚I loved to read as a kid, and always did the summer library reading challenges that earned a burger at In-N-Out! Now I’m part of two book clubs (one with my family and one with friends from back home) to help keep me on track so I take the time to read for fun.

🐔I was born in the Year of the Rooster. I grew up speaking Cantonese as my first language, but once I got to kindergarten, I was speaking only English trying my hardest to get rid of my accent. Now, I try to practice Cantonese with my parents, but it’s more of a broken Cantonese/English. I give compassion to my younger self for wanting to fit in and assimilate.

🍚My nutrition philosophy has evolved over time, and I know it’ll continue to keep changing. I used to think nutrition meant you could prevent everything disease-related (hence, registered dietitian vs. going med school route), and that you were "holier than thou if you valued health above all else". But as I learn more from those around me who have been doing the work on topics such as social determinants of health, diet culture, healthism, weight-centric care vs weight-inclusive care, ableism, fatphobia, body autonomy, to name a few, I realize the harm that I’ve done. Now that I know better (and keep learning every day!), I am working to do better. I’m not the expert on your body, you are.

This week was our wrap-up session for the No Limits Support Group (had to photoshop our missing member in 😂). Starting in January, I felt honored to lead and guide this group through a non-diet approach to health and wellness these past few months.

We explored what diet culture is, and how it shows up (read: everywhere). We discussed some of the principles of intuitive eating, learning about giving ourselves unconditional permission to eat and how to increase awareness with our eating. And we began the convo on body image (though we barely scratched the surface, more to come on this later). Lastly, we always ended with tangible sports nutrition tips that could be applied from week to week.

It’s been a beautiful journey, and I’m proud of everyone’s ability to step up and be vulnerable, sharing stories and experiences from their lives to bring to the group.

As one participant shared: “It is literally nutrition education, a support group, and food therapy, all wrapped into one.”

We’ll be kicking off Cohort #2 in two weeks: starting Tuesday, April 11th. We meet every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at 7:30 pm, held in-person at Amp Association in Santa Monica. Participants have access to an exclusive Facebook group and availability to me via email for support in-between sessions.

You can find out more at the link in my bio, or DM me if you have any questions!
