With med school starting in just a few months, it's time to plan ahead! While I'm hoping to start seeing clients again after I get acclimated (around November?), nothing is for certain. Thus, your best chance to secure a spot with Mi is between now through June, depending on your service.

How far out in advance you can book depends on how many touchups/ sessions you will need. I encourage clients to have at least 7-8 weeks of healing between sessions.

Here are the deadlines:
-Nano Brows or Corrections (non-virgin brows): 3 sessions max starting March 2nd at the latest.*
-Ombre Powder Brows or Dusty Eyeliner: 2 sessions max starting April 20th at the latest.
-Touchups for existing clients: 1 session anytime until June 17th.

All non-virgin brows still require in person or virtual consultations.

*In cases where nano brows can probably be completed in 2 sessions, the April 20th deadline would apply.

Why am I obsessed with nano brows? ...Because clients who would normally not be good candidates for microblading can still achieve the natural brows of their dreams!

Typically, powder brows would be the only technique suitable for oily and textured skin. But let's be honest, not everyone wants the makeup look, and if a client doesn't have a lot of eyebrow hair, it can look... unnatural.

Microblading involves using tiny needles arranged in a row to form a blade. This "microblade" is then used to create tiny slits into the skin to allow pigment to go in. While technique can work great for clients with clear, normal to dry skin, this technique is not recommended for clients with oily skin. Firstly, oilier skin is typically thicker, requiring deeper depth of the blade (which means higher risk of blue/grey brows). Additionally, excess oil usually means that the strokes don't stay crisp. As a result, they either often heal blurred or disappear quickly.

Nano Brows, on the other hand, is a technique that uses a tattoo machine to implant tiny dots of pigment into the skin. Because the pigment is implanted by puncturing the skin instead of slicing it, it usually involves little to no trauma, bleeding, and pain. As a result, we have more flexibility to build up color and blend the hairstrokes in ways we wouldn't be able to with microblading. Remember less trauma = better healed results!

This client previously had microblading and then powder brows from another artist. Thankfully, her previous work was light enough to cover. Needless to say, we both loved the results!

This is long overdue, but... GREETINGS! 👋😄
My name is Chanmi, and I am the 🧠 and 🙌's behind Brows by Mi ✨️

In 2019, I dove headfirst into the world of permanent makeup by taking my first microblading training in California… despite not having secured an apprenticeship (not recommended 🫣lol). Thankfully, a mentor saw my potential and took me in so I could officially get licensed to perform Permanent Cosmetics in Alaska.🫡
3.5 years later, I have been able to develop my own style, hone my craft, and serve hundreds of clients from all over our beautiful state!

Here are 10 random facts about me:
1️⃣ My name "주찬미" means "Praise/ Worship the Lord" in Korean.
2️⃣ I was born in Seoul 🇰🇷 and immigrated to the US when I was 3 👶
3️⃣ I moved to Alaska in 2010 and attended Service High School in Anchorage. (HOSA + BCA, woot woot!)
4️⃣ I graduated from Emory University in 2018 with a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies, with a concentration in cultural studies & humanities 👩‍🎓🌍
5️⃣ I worked at Providence Emergency Department 🏥 as an ED Tech for three years, before and during the pandemic.
6️⃣ When I'm not working, I love to sing, dance, travel, and cook.
7️⃣ I'm currently attending weekly salsa and bachata classes at 💃
8️⃣ I'm a sucker for noodles and boba 😋🍜
9️⃣ I recently got accepted to medical school and will be attending University of Washington School of Medicine through the WWAMI program at UAA 🥳🎉

Hello, my name is Chanmi and I specialize in providing permanent makeup and cosmetic tattoos for Alaskans. I love restoring confidence in my clients and empowering them to spend less time doing their makeup so that they have more time to enjoy other things that they love.

Having multiple family members who have battled cancer, I understand how devastating the illness can be both physically and mentally. But just as a surgeon restored hope for my family when he operated on my parent pro-bono, I also want to provide hope to our community by giving away NANO BROW services to members who have been affected by illness or trauma-related hair loss.

NANO BROWS are a tattooing technique that involves using a machine to implant tiny dots of pigment into the skin to create the illusion of eyebrow hair. Hairstrokes can be created to either blend in with existing brows or to create a new foundation for clients who don't have one. Results will vary for each person but it typically lasts 1-3 years before a touchup is recommended.

All interested candidates should first communicate with my via an in-person or virtual consultation. Selected clients will then be able to book their Nano Brow service, paying only the initial booking fees for both the initial appointment and 6-11 week touchup.

Total financial investment:
$40 in-person consultation or $30 virtual consultation
$50 booking fee for the initial appointment (normally $590 total)
$50 booking fee for the 6-11 week touchup (normally $100 total)

Eligibility:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Cannot be pregnant or nursing
- Must be at least 1 year off of chemotherapy and provide doctor's note

This client‘s goals were not necessarily to replace brow makeup as much as possible, but to enhance her existing shape. She was wanted something that looked both natural and groomed. Thus, we opted for nano brows. By blending nano hairstrokes seemlessly into her existing brow pattern, we were able to achieve the beautiful style and shape she desired.
