Whatever your needs, both insurance-based and concierge care options are available to support your treatment.

Depending on the location, treatment is overseen by Board Certified Psychiatrist Dr. Neelima Kunam M.D.

Insurance-based treatment generally adheres to defined established coverage criteria and standardized protocols. This structure generally follows a single helmet protocol with predefined treatment schedules. These established protocols are based on evidence showing effectiveness compared to placebo in double blinded placebo controlled clinical trials and thus FDA Approval. Copay or co-insurance can vary depending on your insurance plan and we can help obtain that information for transparency on your cost for the full 30-36 sessions protocol with the single helmet. Contact [email protected] or go to www.inlandpsych.com/tms

Dr. Kunam also offers a concierge setting treatment option. Treatment planning may incorporate additional clinical flexibility, including individualized protocol considerations, broader assessment of co-occurring conditions, and ongoing adjustments based on patient response. This leads to a more personalized neuromodulation that does not have to adhere to insurance coverage parameters but are rooted in evidence based data. Optimization may be the right choice for some. What Evidence-Based Actually Means in Psychiatry

The term “evidence-based” is frequently used—but rarely defined clearly.

In clinical psychiatry, evidence-based care typically integrates:

Peer-reviewed research (randomized controlled trials when available)
Clinical expertise
Patient-specific factors and preferences

Not all evidence is equal.

Large randomized trials: Higher
Small studies / pilot trials: Moderate
Observational data: Lower
Theoretical models: Early Stage

Some treatments:
Are FDA-approved for specific conditions
But also studied in other conditions (off-label)

Example framework:
FDA approval = regulatory clearance for a specific indication
Evidence base = broader scientific literature (may extend beyond approval)

Both are important—but they are not the same thing

Why Clinical Trials Matter in Mental Health Care

When a medication is recommended, one of the most important questions is:

👉 “How do we know this will help me?”

Clinical trials are how we begin to answer that question.

They are carefully designed studies that help us understand:
• How medications work
• Who they work best for
• What outcomes to expect
• What risks to consider

But more importantly, they help build data across different types of individuals—
so care becomes more tailored over time.

This allows future patients to make decisions based on:
✔ Evidence
✔ Patterns of response
✔ Real-world outcomes

• “Clinical trials are voluntary and may not be appropriate for everyone.”
• “This content is for educational purposes and not medical advice.”
• “Participation decisions should be made with a qualified clinician.”

Follow ipmgresearch to get updates on our work to bring meaningful data to our patients through clinical trials.

This month is Autism Awareness & Acceptance Month.

Our Goal: Data-Driven Autonomy for our Patients with Autism

True autonomy requires:
• Clear explanations
• Evidence-based options
• Space to decide without pressure

Untreated anxiety or depression can become more limiting than autism itself.

When individuals have access to supportive care, they are better able to:
• Engage in daily life
• Maintain relationships
• Pursue education and work
• Experience comfort in their environment

This month, we reaffirm a simple principle:
👉 Autism care should expand possibilities—not restrict them.

Where does data come from?

Clinical trials are how medicine becomes more precise.

They help answer questions like:

✔ Who benefits most from a treatment
✔ What symptoms improve
✔ What side effects may occur
✔ How different groups respond differently

Over time, this creates something powerful:
👉 Better data = better decisions

So patients and clinicians can choose care based on evidence—not guesswork.

• “Treatment decisions are individualized and based on clinical evaluation.”
• “Medication is one of many options and may not be appropriate for everyone.”
• “This content is for educational purposes and not medical advice.”
