“Imagine finding out all you believed in was based on a lie and the truth was always in the Bible you never opened.”
This quote is a solemn warning. While not every belief outside the Bible is necessarily false, Scripture teaches that many people reject God's truth because they do not seek it in His Word.
The Lord Jesus Christ said:
“Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” — John 17:17 (KJV)
The greatest deception is not merely being wrong about politics, science, culture, or man made religion. The greatest deception is to reject God's testimony concerning sin, salvation, and eternal life through Jesus Christ.
The Bible declares:
“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” — Proverbs 14:12 (KJV)
Many trust their feelings, traditions, opinions, or what the world teaches. Yet God calls us to test everything by His Word. Satan is described as:
“a liar, and the father of it.” — John 8:44 (KJV)
From the Garden of Eden until today, the enemy's strategy has been to question what God has said. But the believer's safety is found in Scripture.
The Bereans were commended because they did not blindly accept teachings. Instead:
“they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” — Acts 17:11 (KJV)
A closed Bible often leads to a confused life. When people neglect God's Word, they become vulnerable to deception. But when they open the Scriptures, they encounter the truth that points to Christ.
The Bible reveals that all have sinned:
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” — Romans 3:23 (KJV)
It reveals the consequence of sin:
“For the wages of sin is death...” — Romans 6:23 (KJV)
And it reveals God's remedy:
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8 (KJV)
The message of this quote should move us to ask: Have I opened the Bible for myself? Have I examined what God has said? Have I trusted Christ according to the Scriptures?
One day, every person will stand before God. On that day, opinions, traditions, and worldly philosophies will pass away, but
