Long before locs…

My decision to loc was merely an evolution of my natural hair journey and mindset about Afro-hair and what it’s truly capable of achieving when allowed to be as our creator intended.
Providing exceptional Haircare for myself and others had BEEN my focus! ♥️🤎🪶🔱

Anyone here since my blogging days? Luv My Kynxx.

Clarifying shampoo for locs and natural hair is not about labels… it’s about results.

If your hair still feels coated, heavy, or dry after washing,
your cleanser may not be strong enough to remove buildup.

Healthy hair starts with a clean foundation.
No buildup. No barrier. Better moisture absorption.

If you want my professional recommendations for strengthening, moisturizing, dry shampoo, or natural DIY options,
comment which one you want and I’ll make that video next.

excuse the delay…space in my phone is limited and I had to clear some things out! 🤦🏾‍♀️

This is not the flex surface level thinkers are praising it to be. The first cosmetology curriculum was written in 1907. Which means it has taken the State Board almost 120 years to find value in our natural hair. The only benefit to our culture is for this to be a Continued Education course, exclusively taught by Black instructors in private Black owned natural hair salons and schools. They need to pay the cost to gain access to our exquisite and unique beauty techniques.

I’m posting this to bring more awareness about the way we, Black women, are voluntarily aiding in losing our edges and becoming dependent on the very styles causing it to happen.

I asked my homegirl ChatGPT this very simple question…what types of things get installed?
HAIRSTYLES were not included in any of the multiple listed answers provided.

Why?

Because “installing” and hairstyles aren’t synonymous just like glue which is an adhesive is not normal to be applied on hair, hairlines and scalp for any reason ever.

If you’re losing your edges to hairstyles that require glue be repeatedly applied to keep it on your head I have a solution that includes 3 things that will stop the hair loss from worsening right now. My free guide is available for you to download. If this post doesn’t apply to you but you know and care about a Sista or Sistas who would benefit share this with them. It can be in private as not to make anyone feel uncomfortable.
This is the link you use to access it.

The term “install” as it relates to our hair styling processes is relatively new. It began with the introduction of lace front wigs which where once only used in theatre for temporary use in movie roles and in stages, or for women who really need them to feel beautiful after losing their hair for medical reasons, to now being sold for $40 in Black beauty supply stores around the world and online.

Historically we, Black women have always referred to our hair styling choices by what we were getting done. For instance, if we were getting cornrows, box, or individuals…we said we’re getting our hair braided. If we were getting a sew-in we’d say we’re getting a sew-in.

But, the process of getting a lace front wig done entails having the wig lace glued around our hairlines. Verbalizing “I’m getting a wig glued down” doesn’t sound like the healthy protective style it’s been misaligned to be.

So, for the sake of “doing what we wanna do with our hair” we cushioned the blow of the what happens to our hairlines with repeatedly wearing glued on lace front wigs with “install”. It made the substance of glue, an adhesive, being applied to our hairline a digestible and normalized reality.

Our hair isn’t an automobile or a technological gadget.

So a viewer asked what’s better for locs, sulfate or sulfate-free shampoos and wanted me to recommend brands…

First things first, before I start naming off brands and you go run out and buy things, knowing the “whys” behind it are key. 🔑Educating yourself is how you stop wasting money.
As a consumer, and me being an educator, I’m on your side! The video would’ve been too long had I added my brand recommendations but I do have a couple. Even with those I have to include my “whys” and teach you how to choose wisely in the event my recommendations aren’t available you. It’s important for you to know how to choose ANY shampoo when you’re shopping instead just of a brand name to look for…that is true empowerment.

Comment “shampoo” if you want to learn more about sulfate free vs sulfate shampoos!

Let’s keep it 💯…you said you were tired of wigs and weaves damaging your hair and you want locs…so why haven’t you started them ma’am?

I know why. It’s the same reason I hear all the time. But in this video I’m coming with a solution trust!

Most Black women wear wigs and weaves for longer hair…so why not grow your own hair in a way that can’t be taken off and supports super fast effortless length retention!

Traction alopecia (bald edges) got you in a chokehold? Want to grow them back and still have a style that supports healthy hair growth? Locs are my #1 recommend way to wear your hair even if your edges are gone and may not come back!

For those who want to stop your thinning edges from getting worse before you loc, I have an ebook with 3 ways to prevent your edges from getting worse below. It’s free.
