She turns 76 tomorrow. And somehow, after all these years, my mom still amazes me every single day.

She’s never had a single cosmetic procedure. Her skin is the result of the same philosophy she has believed in for decades: take care of your skin, use beautiful ingredients, and never compromise on what you put on it.

My mom, Mariana, learned skincare from a professor in Bucharest who was trained in a 100-year-old Parisian method. No petroleum, no propylene glycol, no fragrance. Just concentrated natural ingredients, carefully formulated and made by hand.

But what makes me proudest of her has nothing to do with her skin.

It’s the woman behind it.

I’ve watched her do this my entire life.

And now, getting to carry on what she and my dad started in 1980 is one of the greatest honors of my life. What started as their dream became my childhood, my education, my career, and now my responsibility to protect their legacy.

Not all jojoba oil is created equal. 🌿

One of the biggest mistakes I see is assuming “jojoba oil” and cold-pressed jojoba oil are the same. They’re not.

Cold-pressed jojoba oil is extracted without high heat, helping preserve more of its naturally occurring nutrients and beneficial compounds. The extraction method can make a difference in the quality of the final ingredient.

As a cosmetic chemist, these are the little details I pay attention to when formulating skincare. Ingredients matter but so does how they’re processed. 👩🏻‍🔬✨
