B-Day Ritual this year integrated this Queen Mother Intentional Candle by my friend & fellow Capricorn sister .candles
My soul is lit!

Immediate vibe shift that reconnected me to my intuitive guidance, womb wisdom and self love.

My self talk was pretty trashy last year and I slayed a lot of dragons to get my mental household in alignment with love. This candle illuminated so many of the areas where love is growing in my journey as a mother.

A Bloody Joyful Birth Ritual

I knew the stats. Read the numbers. 3x more likely to die during birth. Behind the numbers were real black women with real stories. Dreams of sleepless nights nursing and 1st everythings.

Being a doula could not protect me. I was haunted by the headlines. I couldn’t silence my own fear of a system that failed many BIPOC. Everytime we read the headlines, we became desensitized to the violence against a black birthing person’s body. It’s been normalized. Many birthworkers are working tirelessly to dismantle a medical system that silences, sterilizes and straight up screws parents out of having a birth that could feel empowering and joyful. Consider supporting an org. like or if you want you are called to help. I am committed to doing the work while also slaying my anxiety through art.

So here are these photos! My celebration of the the bloody beautiful birth ritual that I hoped to call forth. This is me taking my power back from the fear soaked system and telling my story the way I want. Me in my power, connected to my baby and the strength of mothers that came before me, feeling the divine chaos that is birthing, nursing, parenting.

“Normal” and “pretty maternity pictures were not the story that my womb and my Solaris wanted to tell. I had to listen. So here we are calling in ecstasy in the “mess” and an abundance of milk. I’m so grateful to for helping to pull the shoot together and for for capturing this moment of badassery! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
