I always make sure the foundation is strong before adding actives and I noticed a lot of people aren't even doing the basics. I want to make skincare simple again. I really don't do a whole lot of corrective treatments because most of the time, client's barriers aren't even ready for that yet.
My approach is gently cleanse, moisturize to your skin type (oily vs dry) on somewhat damp skin and wear spf every morning, and that almost alone can do such wonders. Then think of adding a tolerable exfoliant or a gentle retinoid. Let's get the foundation right first.
I personally, can't even play with all the different products on the market bc my skin is so reactive, so please don't feel obligated to keep up with all the trends. I don't even chase all the Esthetician treatment trends either. It's OK to keep it simple and you can get beautiful results with even just that.
