When disaster strikes, assistive products help people stay safe and recover quickly.

For people with disabilities, newly injured, and the elderly, wheelchairs and other assistive products are essential for accessing healthcare, moving safely, and meeting daily needs. Yet just as demand surges, emergencies often create new barriers to accessing these vital products—leaving people at greater risk of injury, isolation, and preventable health complications.

We work to close this gap by quickly deploying assistive products, helping people maintain their health and independence when they need it most.

Today is World Assistive Technology Day, a reminder that access to assistive products and services can unlock education, employment, independence, and participation in everyday life.

Yet millions of children and adults around the world still lack access to the assistive technology (AT) they need.

We're working to change that by expanding access to AT and rehabilitation worldwide. Because when people receive the right support, they gain opportunities to learn, work, connect, and thrive.

Today, we join ATscale, the Global Partnership for Assistive Technology in advocating for a world where everyone can access the AT they need.

After three years of impact across Ukraine, our AT Hub in Lviv has officially closed. 💙

The AT Hub helped thousands of people access assistive products and services and has laid the foundation for a stronger, more coordinated system of care. 💪

· 8,585 assistive products provided
· 3,124 people received services
· 108 partner health facilities engaged
· 28 trainings for rehabilitation professionals

The closure of the AT Hub marks the end of a successful project, but not the end of our work in Ukraine. We're continuing to build on this impact through current and future initiatives.

Thank you to CBM, our partners, and supporters who made this impact possible.

Millions of people around the world lack access to the assistive products they need to live independently and participate meaningfully in their communities.

But something as simple as a wheelchair or walker can change a life.

Your support helps Wheels for Humanity expand access to life-changing assistive products and rehabilitation services around the world.

1 week to go! Wheels for Humanity supports to create equal opportunities for all.

Whether it’s a wheelchair, a hearing aid, a prosthetic limb or a pair of glasses, assistive technologies can make all the difference between failure and success at every level.

That is why we are inviting everyone to support this initiative so that assistive technology is accessible to all those who need it.

Country Spotlight: El Salvador🇸🇻

We’ve worked alongside local partners to strengthen rehabilitation services, increase access to assistive products, and promote greater inclusion for people with disabilities.

Our work has included training hundreds of physical therapists, leading adaptive sports opportunities for young people with physical disabilities, and most recently, helping strengthen disability-inclusive disaster preparedness and response systems.

As we celebrate 30 years of impact, we remain committed to building a more accessible and inclusive future in El Salvador and around the world.

Country Spotlight: Guatemala 🇬🇹

From 2023 to 2024, as part of a larger regional initiative across El Salvador, Honduras, and Peru, we partnered with ATscale, the Global Partnership for Assistive Technology to lead Guatemala’s first-ever national review of assistive technology (AT) with the goal of increasing national investment in assistive products and services.

Together with government partners, we developed a national AT roadmap and led an awareness campaign highlighting the importance of access to assistive products.

The project marked an important step toward identifying existing capacity, challenges, and opportunities to help strengthen future policies and programs.

From removing barriers to service provision in Colombia and training local therapists in Cuba, to wheelchair delivery in Costa Rica, supporting children affected by the Zika virus in the Dominican Republic, and helping establish a regional wheelchair hub in Nicaragua, our work in Latin America and the Caribbean is creating lasting impact.

For the past 30 years, we have built stronger rehabilitation systems, expanded access to assistive products, and improved quality of life for people with disabilities in 20 countries across Latin America and the Caribbean.
