Sometimes the smallest moments tell you the biggest things about yourself.

I was sitting on the couch when I looked over and saw Apollo just sitting there looking at me. And Bodie was curled up behind him. It made me stop for a second. After 25-plus years of working with people, I've learned something. We spend a lot of time looking for the next big thing to change our lives. Sometimes we just need to pay attention to what's already in front of us. What's something in your life that helps you slow down and appreciate the moment?

'I used to think success would make me feel different.'

Alright. Checking. Done. Here's the final copy and paste version with hashtags. I used to think success would make me feel different. Standing in front of a piece of art, I've always found it interesting how differently two people can experience the exact same painting. The artist may have a very specific idea in mind when they created it, but you might look at it and see something different. And that doesn't necessarily change the art. It changes the perspective of the person looking at it. I think we do something similar with ourselves. We can look at our accomplishments, our experiences, even the things other people admire, but see ourselves through a completely different lens. Sometimes nothing's changed except our perspective. That's why I believe some of the most meaningful transformation begins when we start looking at ourselves differently. Not by pretending the past didn't happen or ignoring the things we want to change, but by becoming aware of the beliefs and perspectives we've been using to define ourselves. Because sometimes the next breakthrough isn't changing the picture. It's seeing the picture differently. And that's where new possibilities can begin.

What do you see when you look at yourself?

I thought losing weight would change my life. I was wrong.

The biggest lesson I learned after losing over 130 pounds wasn't about food. People expect me to name a diet or an exercise plan. But the truth is, the biggest change happened in my thinking. I stopped chasing perfection. I focused on consistency. And that mindset has carried me through weight loss, surgery, and getting back into the gym. It's not about never falling down; it's about deciding to get back up.

"Sometimes the best health coach has four legs.",Bodie reminds me to be present. He's excited for walks every day, and that reminds me to get to the gym and to keep him getting his short walks in daily. It's the small, consistent things that make the biggest difference. What's one simple daily habit that helps you feel healthier or happier? Share yours in the comments below.

"Have you ever wondered why some habits are so hard to break?"

For more than 25 years, I've worked with people who wanted to make meaningful changes in their lives. Most don't fail because they lack willpower. They struggle because habits become automatic. The brain loves familiar patterns, even when they no longer serve us. The good news: habits can change. It doesn't happen overnight, and it's not just about willpower. Change comes from noticing the patterns that keep us stuck and consistently replacing them with healthier ones. What's one habit you've been working to improve this year? "What if the biggest myth about aging is the one we've all accepted?"
Somewhere along the way, many people start believing that getting older automatically means slowing down. I don't buy into that. After losing more than 130 pounds, going through knee replacement surgery, and facing prostate cancer, I've learned that life doesn't always go to plan. But every day still gives us the opportunity to make choices. For me, longevity isn't about chasing a number on a birthday cake. It's about having the strength to enjoy life, the energy to spend time with people I love, and the independence to keep doing what matters. I'd love to hear your thoughts. What's one thing you hope you're still able to do 10 or 20 years from now?

One of the biggest mistakes we can make is believing that progress has to be perfect.
It doesn't.

One of the biggest mistakes we can make is believing that progress has to be perfect.

There will be days when you eat differently than you planned.

Days when you don't exercise.

Days when stress gets the better of you.

Days when your motivation disappears.

That's life.

The important question isn't whether you had a perfect day.

It's whether you're willing to start again tomorrow.

One decision doesn't define your journey.

One difficult week doesn't erase the progress you've already made.

Keep going.

What is one small thing you can do this week that moves you in the direction you want to go?

Getting older is inevitable. How we approach those years is a different story.

Healthy aging isn't about chasing perfection.

It's about giving yourself the best opportunity to stay active, engaged, mentally sharp, and able to enjoy the things that matter to you.

That can mean moving your body.

Getting enough rest.

Managing stress.

Nurturing relationships.

Keeping your mind active.

And continuing to learn and grow.

You don't have to overhaul your entire life tomorrow.

Sometimes the best place to start is with one thing you can improve today.

What's one thing you're doing now that you hope will help you live well for years to come?

Borrow Calm From Your Past

Here's a simple technique you can use when you need to think clearly in a stressful situation.

Maybe you're sitting in a job interview.

Maybe you're trying to make an important decision.

Maybe you're facing a situation at school, work, or home that has your mind racing.

Before you react, give yourself a moment.

Close your eyes if you're somewhere you can safely do so.

Take a slow breath.

Then remember a time when you felt especially calm, confident, and clear-minded.

Picture that moment.

Remember what it felt like to be there.

Allow yourself to reconnect with that sense of calm before you return your attention to the situation in front of you.

You're not trying to make the problem disappear.

You're giving yourself a moment to get out of the stress response and approach the situation with a clearer mind.

Try it the next time you feel overwhelmed and see whether it changes the way you approach the situation.
