People ask
how I keep going.

How I wake up,
how I breathe,
how I live
with this kind of loss.

The truth is…

I don’t do it
because I’m strong.

I do it
because I have to.

Because life didn’t pause
when you left—
even though
mine felt like it did.

You are free to acknowledge
all you’ve made it through
and say to yourself:
“I’m proud of you.”
Even if all you feel like you’ve done
is make it through the day,
you are allowed to celebrate
the audacious, miraculous act of
having been alive here at all, anyway.

Words to repeat to yourself: “I am allowed to embrace slow movement whenever possible. I welcome quiet strength however I can.”

-

Sometimes, strength is taking a deep breath.
Sometimes, strength is quiet, yet enduring, like roots.

Tree roots are mostly hidden underground. We don’t usually see them, but they are constantly working.

Like quiet strength, they grow slowly, taking their time to expand and strengthen, in response to the surrounding conditions. Tree roots, like strength, can also endure through seasons, year after year. Intertwined with the roots of other trees, they are not alone in their quiet presence.

Remember the tree’s roots when “being strong” is too much to carry on your own, for perhaps, like tree roots, strength is something that is meant to be shared.

Remember the tree’s roots in the moments where you feel strong, but not strong enough.

Remember the tree’s roots when you feel like you are growing, but not fast enough.

Because for all of the things in this world where speed and volume are the metrics of value, there still lies in this very landscape the sustaining nature of roots, and you are free to embrace your quiet strength all the same.

Wow peeps!! Thank you so much for the follow! As my other coaching businesses take off and the new Community Acupuncture Clinic we opened up last year (I'm on the board!) here in Long Beach, CA, begins to grow I've been quite busy!

Which grief related topics are you most concerned about and let's begin, again, from there. Comment below ❤️

“People you love never die...They don't die. Not completely. They live in your mind, the way they always lived inside you. You keep their light alive. If you remember them well enough, they can still guide you, like the shine of long-extinguished stars could guide ships in unfamiliar waters. If you stop mourning them, and start listening to them, they still have the power to change your life. They can, in short, be salvation.”
