We are supposed to get better as we age. For his 80th birthday, I have to take a moment to honor one of my greatest teachers. From the most simple concept of self defense that helps me across martial arts (elbow control) to visualizing my breath as a color, to embodying the balance of gentleness and strength, my family’s Wu style Sifu Keith Tong has been a treasure in my life and the lives of countless others.

Sifu Keith is always my first call for health questions over western health practitioners. He’s so many of my friends and family members including my son have benefited from his guidance.

As a fighter, I learned how to defend myself against all weight classes from basic concepts that Keith shares, which built my confidence to earn my way to fighting pros in San Shou under Beijing coach Li Ti Liang.

In the sport of Tai Chi , I have yet to experience a system as holistic as Sifu Keith Tong’s approach to both athleticism and wellness. His differentiation of waist versus hip power has been massively influential in how I train both as an athlete and as a Qigong practitioner. Keith had me on cordyceps 2 weeks before any competition years before it became mainstream to expand lung capacity (with strict guidance to stop taking them after the event).

He’s helped me and so many people that I could write pages and pages worth of gratitude and learnings. All I can say is that he looks amazing for 80 and remains a true role model for me.

Happy 80th Birthday Sifu Keith Tong!

I’ve been studying and talking about this for years, and I’m finally making the video.

The whole world watched Michael Jackson teach Qigong in a music video… and almost nobody noticed.

What fascinates me most is how mastery across disciplines eventually starts revealing the same principles.

Martial arts. Dance. Filmmaking. Music. Meditation. Performance.

Different paths up the mountain. Shared truths near the summit.

When I study Michael, I’m not just watching the external shapes — the clothes, the voice, the movements, the mystique.

I’m watching the internal engine.

The breath.
The visualization.
The intention.
The willpower.
The sincerity.

That’s what made him different.

A lot of people imitate Michael’s form.
Very few imitate his internal discipline.

The affirmations.
The self-programming.
The pressure.
The refinement.
The devotion.

To me, THAT is the real technique.

Qigong, at its core, is incredibly simple:
Breath + visualization + body mechanics.

Attention becomes movement.
Movement becomes intention.
Intention becomes reality.

I grew up in a martial arts family under intense training, comic books, philosophy, music, storytelling, and embodiment work all colliding together into one ecosystem. The older I get, the more I realize these things were never separate.

Michael understood that too.

He used movement, music, storytelling, and presence to transmit sincerity at scale.

That’s mastery.

That’s kung fu.

And honestly… sincerity may have been his greatest technique of all.

Thank you to and for the great Qigong work they share that I referenced in this video. And good vibes to .syresmith for the great work they share. My mention of them in the video is to further clarify how special MJ is to us all. Also gratitude to ’s legacy, and and great work on Michael. Go see it.

If you want the training link or want to dive deeper into this stuff with me, comment “MJ.” ⚡️

I was overjoyed to visit and share the Tai Chi Poem with the children. Gratitude to my brother for the invitation to witness the results of his masterful intuition training with young students. I was especially calmed by the surrounding, with statues and imagery of deities from across belief systems and important world leaders and artists casually situated across the space. That’s how I was raised, so to see a bunch of kids playing within that ecosystem felt like home. ❤️☯️🧘

While this Ta Lu exercise is from the Wu style of Tai Chi taught by my Sifu Keith Tong, Grandmaster William C.C. Chen would ask my father and I to perform this on stage during his exhibitions as part of his US Push Hands Team. To me, that’s a great example of an open-minded teacher that values excellence over ownership of a given idea or technique. That lesson inspires me in all activities.

Comment “TRAIN” and I’ll send you more DRILLS!

Let me know if you have any thoughts, questions, or ideas on the art and sport of Tai Chi Push Hands (Taiji Tuishou) and I will happily respond.

The structural alignment method you see in this video is a Tai Chi Nei Kung innovation on Zheng-gǔ (Chinese Bonesetting). Think of it as brushing your hair, but for the skeleton, ligaments, and joints. This method helps to reset misalignment in the body for optimal posture, breaks apart calcification, and can correct certain challenges for a better quality life. I’ve been meaning to post this photo since summer. I’m more calm around Sifu David Ross and the family he built at . Sifu Ross was the very first sponsor for back when I was still in film school at NYU, providing our training facilities since my older martial brother and fight choreographer was Sifu Ross’ student. Eventually Sifu Ross and I became friends, and I’ve been honored to call his schools home, especially during the times when the dojo represented more stability than my home life. When J wasn’t making JFH scenes, I was focused on Tai Chi training, or weapons disarming, or Sigong Chan Tai San’s Lama Kung Fu tapered staff form. Sifu Ross encouraged all of it Being entrusted with a space to train and create is one of the greatest gifts anyone can receive.

Sifu Ross even helped me evolve my perspective of my own martial history fighting on Li Ti Liang’s NY International San Shou Team. That was a challenging (sometimes dreadful) chapter of my late teens, getting paid to fight pros for the first time ever, being marketed as a fighter with over 43 matches when I had only 3 prior, and more. Sifu Ross is a historian, and receiving his perspective helped me balance my own and allowed me to give myself more grace.

I write this on the eve of returning to NYC to host a screening at this school that is a home for me, bringing back the project that brought me there, . This photo collects some great humans I’ve met through Sifu Ross, including who has helped maintain the school for 16 years, who has spent significant time on the mats playing Push Hands with me, and , who designed the key moments new era of choreography.

I’m so blessed to watch this martial family grow and share important training with the world.

Comics + stunt gear + impromptu Tai Chi Alignment Therapy! Let me explain: called me in the middle of stunt training yesterday and offered to give me some tactical vests as props for our next shoot. So of course I had to run to first to pick up the second issue of Batman Knightfight featuring Dan’s creation of the Klingon Bat-leth on the cover (I gave him issue 1 in November).

Then Dan showed my some new Bat’leth prototypes that came in before they hit the consumer market, plus some of his new paintings. Dan loved our new action short and the subtle VFX work that I made on .ai. I suggested that there may be a valuable partnership to explore between him .creators, given that his paintings are worlds and his work is beloved in the sci-fi world (so if anyone from Higgs reads this, connect with Dan off IG).

Dan had some stiffness in his knee as well, but we got rid of that in a few minutes with the .jin.wellness method, so he didn’t need the knee brace after. Thanks for assisting with zero notice.

Awesome day.

I’ll post about how Dan’s work in VFX has provided me with pivotal instructions for meditation since childhood soon. I know has been waiting for that one.
