Rita Mastrangelo

Rita Mastrangelo Well hello there. I'm Rita the founder of The Autism Wellness Academy.

As a passionate advocate for children diagnosed with autism, I help families reduce challenging behaviours and improve their child's health through nutrition, gut health and lifestyle.

One of the biggest mistakes I see is parents being given the same recommendations without first understanding what is actually going on with their child.

Every child is different.

That’s why I start by understanding your child, their diet, gut symptoms, sleep, sensory challenges, behaviors, and the findings from functional lab testing.

No guessing.

No cookie-cutter recommendations.

No generic framework or guide.

Only individualized support based on your child.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, and I know many of you are; if you would like help understanding where to start, I offer complimentary calls.

There is no cure for Autism.

Yet we hear stories every day about children who “recover”

Is it possible we’re missing part of the conversation?

If you’re wondering where to start, you’re not alone.

After helping families over the past 8 years, one thing has become very clear to me:

The body matters.

Behaviors don’t happen in isolation, and many children are struggling with hidden stressors that are often overlooked.

That’s why I believe in testing, not guessing.

Because guessing often leads to: random supplements, expensive protocols, confusion and little progress.

Functional lab testing helps us look deeper at what may be contributing to stress in the body so support can become more individualized and intentional.

But I also don’t believe in skipping the foundation.

Nutrition comes first, and when a child is a picky eater, that’s where I begin.

But nutrition alone is not always enough especially when a child has more complex imbalances or underlying stressors. We need to look at the bigger picture and bring all the pieces together.

Small changes done consistently over time matter more than extreme protocols.

That’s why I created a free guide with 4 practical strategies I use with families to support gut health and calmer behaviors even in picky eaters.

Comment “START” below ⬇️ and I’ll send it to you.

Leucovorin may help folate get into the brain, but the body still needs healthy methylation, nutrients, mitochondria, and gut health to actually use it properly.

That’s why I always say there is rarely one magic supplement or it’s just nutrition.

You have to look at the whole body and what may be contributing to dysfunction in the first place.

If you’re looking for more clarity and a whole-body perspective, feel free to reach out.

I’m so excited to be a featured speaker joining 20+ practitioners and experts, many of whom have walked this path with their own children.

I’ll be speaking on Thursday the 21st presenting on oxalates and how I use functional medicine testing to determine what is needed to help improve the health of children diagnosed with autism.

It’s completely free and each day’s videos are available on-demand to watch around your schedule.

One of the hardest parts after receiving an autism diagnosis is trying to figure out who to trust and unfortunately, there are people online making a few dollars from parents’ vulnerability by selling generic “what worked for my child” guides and one-size-fits-all protocols.

I understand why parents buy them.

When you are overwhelmed and searching for answers, it’s easy to believe that if something worked for another child, it must be the answer for yours too.

But children are not protocols.

What one child needs may be completely different from another.

This is why I believe parents deserve individualized support and not one-size-fits-all approaches pulled from the internet.

This is also why I always say:
behavior is information.

The body is constantly communicating with us and while there is never one magic answer, understanding the bigger picture may help us better support how a child feels, functions, and responds to the world around them.

If you are feeling overwhelmed after a diagnosis and want more individualized guidance, you can book a call through the link in my bio or comment CALL and I’ll personally send you the link.

The doctor said autism, but no one asked why the behaviors started.

When this 13-year-old’s family came to me, they weren’t looking for another explanation.

Like so many families I speak with, they were trying to understand what changed.

Children don’t just wake up one day and become overwhelmed, anxious, or disconnected for no reason.

Something has been going on in the body and eventually, it starts to show up as behaviors.

That’s the piece that often gets missed.

I don’t focus only on the label or the behaviors. I look deeper.

This is just one of the labs we ran.

What it showed was a body under significant stress. A system struggling to keep up.

When the body is under that kind of pressure, it shows up in real life as:

• overwhelm
• anxiety
• shutdown
• difficulty coping

Looking deeper changes how you support the child and that’s where things can start to shift.

If you feel like you’ve tried everything and still don’t have clear answers comment “CALL” or send me a message.

I’ll walk you through how I start connecting the dots and where support needs to begin.

In health,
Rita
