Grocery Buying Mistake #2

Not making a list: 📝

When trying to lose weight, I advise my clients to make sure they make a grocery list when they go shopping. Too many times if we go shopping without set intentions, it is easy to forget the things you wanted to buy, and worse, we tend to impulse buy items we don't need. It is harder to talk yourself into buying that chocolate cake if it isn't not on the list. 😉

A healthy grocery list should include:

Fruits: apples, bananas, berries, oranges, pears, mangoes, etc.

Vegetables: leafy greens, broccoli, bell peppers, carrots, sweet potatoes, etc.

Whole grains: brown rice, quinoa, whole wheat bread, oats, etc.

Lean proteins: chicken, turkey, fish, tofu, lentils, beans, etc.

Healthy fats: avocados, nuts, seeds, olive oil, coconut oil, etc.

Dairy or dairy alternatives: milk, yogurt, cheese, almond milk, soy milk, etc.

Last week I gave you the worst drinks at Starbucks....
So here is what I do recommend 😊

Iced or hot coffee: A plain cup of coffee is a low-calorie, nutrient-rich option that can provide a boost of caffeine and antioxidants. Add a splash of milk/almond milk/oat milk.

Iced or hot tea: Like coffee, tea is also a low-calorie, nutrient-rich option that can be enjoyed hot or iced. Starbucks offers a variety of teas, such as green tea, black tea, and herbal teas that are all good options.

Unsweetened iced or hot tea lattes: If you're looking for a milk-based option, try an iced or hot tea latte made with unsweetened tea and your choice of milk.

Caffè Misto: This is a blend of brewed coffee and steamed milk that comes with a little less calories than a latte.

Nitro Cold Brew: Nitro cold brew is a cold, creamy, and slightly sweet coffee that is made using a special brewing process, and is a good choice for those who want a lower-calorie iced coffee option. Ask for a pump of sugar-free vanilla syrup to add some flavor you may be craving!

Remember, when ordering a drink at Starbucks, you can also customize it to suit your needs by asking for non-fat, almond, soy, coconut, or oat milk; sugar-free vanilla or cinnamon dolce syrups, and no whipped cream!
