Would I do this for free if I could??? Absolutely.
But this is as real a job as that ink that sits on your skin ✍🏼…
Maybe people don’t take it seriously because we don’t really have a set job description? If you ask me…this is what I would add to mine;
-has an ability to interprete abstract thoughts into designs, no matter how crazy they are. Truly the crazier, the better.
-can yap about any subject, especially when it comes to the clients love life
-does not discriminate against race, skin color, sexual orientation/identity, religion & will not tattoo anyone who does
-is honest because your tattoo might outlast your 5 month relationship. Sorry not sorry.
-is respectful about the clients needs/special accommodations; if you want silence or certain music, set snack breaks etc.
-is committed to continue learning & humble enough to suggest an artist that may be better suited for your needs
-will provide a laugh or a cry when needed
-does not offer perfection but artistic integrity within their ability
-will take your friends/partners opinions into consideration but will remain honest & open about what they know is best
-can guarantee a good time
