Gorayk — a small village with a big impact. ❤️

High in the mountains of Syunik, at 2,105 meters above sea level, lies the small village of Gorayk — home to just about 274 people and one of the coldest villages in Armenia.

For years, Gorayk had never had a kindergarten.

That changed when Focus on Children Now (FCN) committed to providing the furniture and kitchen equipment needed to help the community renovate and open its very first kindergarten.

Today, 11 children have a warm and welcoming place to learn, play and grow — and the kindergarten has created 6 local jobs.

This project was made possible as a gift to the children of Gorayk in honor of Armen and Eleanora Hayrapetian’s 40th anniversary. We were especially happy to have them with us at the opening and to see their joy in sharing this special day with the children and the community.

The energy and happiness of the children, together with the excitement of the entire community, made the day truly special.

And while this may be one of FCN’s smaller projects by the numbers, its impact is anything but small.

In a village this remote, a kindergarten means more than a place for children. It means local jobs, support for families, and another reason for young families to remain in their village.

When families stay, villages survive.

When villages survive, communities grow stronger.

And when communities along Armenia’s borders are strengthened, Armenia becomes stronger.

One small village.
One kindergarten.

✨Two amazing teenagers, Sofi and Emma Rose, are turning a simple holiday tradition into something truly meaningful. ❤️

Every holiday season, they prepare beautiful jars of nuts and sell them, with 100% of the proceeds donated to Focus on Children Now (FCN) to support children and families in Armenia.

Last year, their generosity made an incredible impact. They raised enough to sponsor all the furniture for a brand-new classroom at Getap Kindergarten in Vayots Dzor. ❤️

Today, 30 children have a beautiful place to learn and grow for years to come. The project also created 3 new jobs in Getap, giving 30 mothers the opportunity to work and provide for their families. ❤️

And it all started with two teenagers who simply wanted to make a difference.

Sofi and Emma Rose, we are so incredibly proud of you! Your kindness, initiative, and big hearts are an inspiration. ❤️

This holiday season, we’ll announce when Sofi and Emma Rose begin selling their beautiful jars of nuts. We hope you’ll join us in supporting them — and together, help them create another meaningful project for children in Armenia. 🇦🇲❤️

There is something special about visiting any of our projects, but it becomes even more meaningful when the sponsors are there to experience it with us. ❤️

In loving memory of Mr. Soltan Gharibian, his family asked friends and loved ones to donate to Focus on Children Now in lieu of flowers. Last June, we had the privilege of visiting Dsegh together and seeing what those thoughtful gifts made possible.

32 little kindergarteners in the beautiful village of Dsegh — the birthplace of Hovhannes Tumanyan — now have new, safe and colorful beds to sleep in for years to come. ❤️

Thank you, Noel and Talin, for making the time to visit the project with us and see firsthand what your family and friends made possible. A beautiful and lasting tribute to your beloved dad’s memory — one that will touch the lives of children for many years to come.

Բարև ձեզ - Dsegh village kindergarten

This playground was built in 2021 in honor of Mrs. Vartouhi Tomassian Sahagyan’s 90th birthday.

Today, we returned to Vandzor #5 kindergarten for a visit. The laughter of children filling the playground was a beautiful reminder that kindness lives on long after the gift is given.

What a meaningful legacy—to celebrate a life by creating a place where children can laugh, play, and make joyful memories every day. ❤️💙🧡

The loving memory of Thomas Tahmassian continues to make a meaningful difference through the generosity of his family.

At Vanadzor Kindergarten #28, 30 children now have the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive in a nurturing environment. This gift has also created 2 local jobs and enables 30 mothers to pursue employment, knowing their children are cared for.

We are deeply grateful to the Tahmassian family for turning remembrance into opportunity and hope. Every act of kindness creates a brighter future for Armenia’s children. Together, we are breaking the poverty cycle—one child at a time.
