Hello friends!
And welcome, new friends!
I think I might have hit a nerve with what I said before Metro Council...

I believe that what we do is more than "spa work", or "massage". The best of our profession are healers, sages, shamans. I aspire to this myself, and consider myself barely out of apprenticeship.
We use the gifts we are given, expand and train and tune them so that we can connect the body together, but more importantly, we can help a person re-integrate their body with their mind and their soul.

Our work, like that of all healers, is sacred.
I will speak up anytime someone, even within our own profession, minimizes what we are capable of, or tries to diminish us with pejorative words and demeaning descriptions.

We, the people of the United States and to a lesser degree the peoples of the world, are in a struggle with those who would collate us, separate us, surveil us, alienate us from our bodies and our communities, slice and dice our lives to be held as data and controlled by AI agents. Those who do so are servants of the machine, not humanity. My practice, and my gatherings and workshops around my practice, are my way of supporting and uplifting the humanity in us all. Not to be grandiose, lol. But I can do with my hands, and my words, and my creativity what I cannot do politically or culturally. I hope you find a way to develop your joy, your community, and your creativity as well. Thanks for following me here. I hope you'll follow me and connect in person as well, not just through the machine.

Yesterday, I was interviewed by Meredith at WAVE news.
Thank you for the interview and the opportunity to speak!
However, one reporting correction... in the news piece it states that the ordinance has already resulted in the arrest of three
This is not true. The arrest happened in May.
The ordinance did not take effect until June.
The investigation and arrest happened before, using the laws already against the books against human trafficking and prostitution, and not as a result of the new ordinance. 

The ordinance has delivered on its core enforcement goal: in May, raids on three unlicensed facilities resulted in five arrests and five victims rescued. Last night, I was honored to speak before Louisville Metro Council regarding the anti-massage therapy ordinance, LMCO 115.170-196, they passed last November. Many of of us have been fighting it in many ways since the beginning.
I spoke to them about my own experience, and why I personally was no longer able to have a practice in Jefferson County, in the environment they created.
