Norton Brownsboro offers a wide range of inpatient, outpatient, diagnostic, orthopedic, cardiovascular, neurologic and neurosurgical care, cancer care and intensive care services. Sometimes it's the smallest acts of kindness that leave the biggest impact. For one family, Brittany was a steady source of comfort during a difficult and uncertain time as their mother recovered in the ICU following brain surgery.

Whether helping her find a more comfortable position, coaching her through treatment, or even tracking down hot sauce for breakfast, Brittany's compassion showed through in every detail. Just as importantly, she cared for the family, regularly checking on them and making sure they felt supported throughout their stay.

One family member shared that before leaving Brittany's care, their mother told her, "I hope everyone in your life knows how amazing you are." Through her kindness, dedication and genuine concern for both patients and families, Brittany created a lasting impact that will not be forgotten. For one patient, a routine blood draw became an unforgettable example of exceptional care. Facing nine vials of bloodwork with difficult veins, they were understandably nervous, but Rose completed the draw on the first try and made the experience virtually painless.

Beyond her technical expertise, Rose provided comfort and reassurance during a challenging hospital stay. The patient shared, "Your efforts did not go unnoticed and will not be forgotten," and thanked Rose for the dedication, excellence and kindness she brings to her work every day.

Marjorie Buntin, unit coordinator at Norton Audubon Hospital, has spent 50 years building a career around one thing she loves most: helping people.

Her career began as a unit secretary, back when everything was done on paper. When computers were introduced, Marjorie remembers thinking, “Wow, this is the new age!” Instead of being intimidated by the change, she leaned into it. She bought a computer for home so she could keep learning and later helped train colleagues when Norton Audubon Hospital transitioned to the Meditech system.

That willingness to learn and help others has followed Marjorie throughout her career. It also extends beyond the hospital through years of community service with Everyone Reads, Junior Achievement, an elementary school classroom and now Big Brothers Big Sisters.

For Marjorie, the encouragement, inspiration and fun she has found at work are part of what has made Norton Healthcare such a special place to spend 50 years.

Thank you, Marjorie, for a remarkable career of learning, serving and making a difference for our patients, colleagues and community.

Tia Mitchell is full of energy. Her laugh fills a room, and her passion for helping other women is contagious. Behind Tia’s bright spirit is a story that started with fear, hesitation and a decision that ultimately saved her life. 💕

After Tia had a lump examined by a doctor, she was immediately scheduled for a mammogram the same day. Further testing led to a diagnosis of invasive ductal carcinoma, Grade 3.

After treatment with Norton Cancer Institute, Tia now is passionate about encouraging other women to stay on top of their breast health and get their mammograms, rather than waiting the way she did.

While caring for a 96-year-old patient, Amanda never made her feel like just another patient. She took the time to listen, offer reassurance, and ensure she was as comfortable as possible, even during the busiest shifts. Her calm, compassionate presence provided comfort not only to her patient, but also to her family, who found peace of mind knowing their loved one was being treated with the same kindness and respect they would provide themselves. Yulianna’s quick thinking and compassionate care made all the difference for a patient in distress. She noticed subtle changes in their breathing, acted immediately, and ensured they received the higher level of care they needed, ultimately helping save their life.

Even after the patient was transferred to the ICU, she stayed by their side, adjusting equipment, offering comfort, and jumping in to help without ever being asked. Her nominator shared that the night ran smoother because of her dedication, and that her presence truly mattered.
