I’ve been trying to find the right way to say this because I truly value every person who supports my business.
I believe the best business relationships are built on mutual respect. It shouldn’t only benefit the customer simply because they’re the customer—it should work for both the business owner and the consumer.
As customers, I think it’s important to lead with kindness, respect, patience, and understanding. Small acts of grace go a long way.
When a business owner goes out of their way to accommodate your unique situation, please remember that they don’t have to. Most of the time, they’re doing it because they genuinely appreciate your support and want to provide great service.
However, if something changes after we’ve agreed on a plan, please understand that I may not always be able to accommodate those changes. That doesn’t mean I don’t value your business—it simply means I have to be fair, honor my policies, and protect my time and commitments.
The phrase “the customer is always right” has been taken too far. Great customer service doesn’t mean every request can or should be granted. Sometimes the answer is simply “I’m sorry, I’m not able to do that,” and that’s okay.
Respect should go both ways. When business owners and customers extend each other grace, understanding, and common courtesy, everyone has a much better experience.
