🚌 Today we're highlighting one of our newest programs, the Brown Bag Bus!

The Brown Bag Bus is a mobile meal program launched in the summer of 2026. We retrofitted two school busses that made lunchtime stops in six Louisville neighborhoods – delivering healthy meals to kids up to eighteen years old.

The Y started this program to address a critical need in our community – that nearly 1 in 5 children experience food insecurity every day. And in the summer – when school isn’t in session – many families struggle to get access to the food they need.

But the Brown Bag Bus delivers more than healthy lunches to where kids live and play. It also brings smiling faces, a safe environment, and fun, educational activities – building trust and caring connections along the way.

WE’RE GETTING EXCITED! ONLY 2 DAYS until !
Breaking the Cycle, Building a Future
Isaiah Duncan once described himself as the son of a single mother and an incarcerated father, and a young man determined to break the cycle of incarceration.
Through the YMCA’s Y-NOW mentoring program, Isaiah found people who believed in him. During the 10-month program, he built a lasting relationship with his mentor, learned lessons that shaped his future, and eventually returned as a youth leader to give back.
Today, Isaiah has added new chapters to his story. He is a Restaurant Development Specialist, a leader, a husband, an advocate for Y-NOW, and a proud father. The cycle he was determined to break ends with him.
With your support, YMCA Safe Place Services can provide help, hope, and healing to teens and families in crisis by changing a life today and a family for generations to come. Make plans to donate on September 10!

BEGINNING TOMORROW: Improvements are coming to the Southwest Family YMCA pool!
Tuesday, September 8, the pool and sauna will CLOSE while we complete major renovations, including:
• Sandblasting and painting the pool
• Freshly painted pool deck walls
• Installation of a brand-new pool bubble

Closure Dates: September 8 – October 11
During the closure, Southwest Family YMCA members will have access to all YMCA of Greater Louisville locations at no additional cost.

Thank you for being so patient as we make these exciting improvements. We look forward to seeing you back on October 12!
