Seems like the theme for this week was placenta services. We processed one (pictured) and got security deposits for 5 more. We'd say we're in a good groove!!

We recently processed a placenta for encapsulation that had a marginal cord insertion. This means that the cord attached to the placenta pretty much at the edge. Take a look at all the different ways the cord can be attached.

The reason why we exist!! To bring this type of care right into the community we love and serve! 🌻❤️

For Black mothers, access to the right care can make all the difference. But should that access depend on what a family can afford? 🤎

The Mamas First Act is back before Congress, proposing expanded Medicaid coverage for doulas, midwives, Tribal midwives and lactation support providers throughout pregnancy, delivery and postpartum care — without cost-sharing for those covered services.

The legislation could be especially significant for Black families as Black women continue to face disproportionate risks of pregnancy-related death and serious complications. The bill also emphasizes culturally responsive maternal care that considers a patient’s values, beliefs, language and practices.

But there’s an important catch: the Mamas First Act has been introduced and reintroduced for seven years — and still hasn’t become law.

Today I went and did a weight check on a precious little baby girl. She sprinkled (peed) in my sling and gave a quick little smile.
I take that as a badge of honor ❤️🌻

These are my favorite kind of messages! Brick by brick I'm building something amazing for the Mama's in my community. They deserve to have experiences outside of the hospital. They deserve OPTIONS!! Pregnancy and birth aren't one size fits all. 🌻❤️🤞🏾

Happy International Day of the Midwife to our Founder. The quiet stillness and peace of a homebirth is so beautiful. Sometimes, taking a quiet moment to give thanks for the success of a safe and healthy transition is captured through the eyes of someone else. Those same prayers also help guide our hands.

When babies are born on a Saturday....you get to go back and check on them and Mama on Sunday afternoons. When babies come during beautiful weather....they get to see one of your favorite summer dresses 🐆🌻

I kicked off my in MAJOR way. On the first day of BMHW at 0117 am a beautiful baby boy was born at home. I was honored to support this beautiful black family in their homebirth journey. They are my first official clients of Divine Design Midwifery, so that makes it EXTRA sweet!!! Mama was 41 weeks and 6 days at delivery and look at how HEALTHY her placenta is. Don't let them convince ya'll that they just stop working at 40 weeks. She also had a true knot in her cord that looked kind of like a braid. I'm thankful for them. For trusting me and for allowing me to support them. There's an extra special detail about this story, but that's their razzle dazzle to tell ❤️🌻
