You may know us as the team behind JFK1, but there’s so much more to the Just for Kids Transport Team than the helicopter. We are a dedicated team of critical care nurses, respiratory therapists and EMTs who specialize in caring for critically ill and injured newborns, children and adolescents. Together, we provide specialized care while transporting patients to the pediatric specialists and resources they need.

And we don’t just fly—we’re ready 24/7, providing transport by helicopter or our specially equipped ambulances. Every year, our team transports more than 3,000 pediatric and neonatal patients, with each transport crew bringing specialized equipment and critical care expertise.

Behind every transport is a team of people who care deeply about our mission. Over the next few weeks, we’re going to introduce you to the faces behind JFK1 and the ambulances—our nurses, respiratory therapists, EMTs, pilots and the people who help make this mission possible!

If you’re new here, welcome!
If you’ve been following us for a while, thank you for being part of our journey!

A little insight as to what our skills days look like! Practicing high risk, low volume skills helps keep us up to date with best practices and our skills sharp for those moments when they are needed most. We couldn’t do this every year without the support from our critical care, neonatal, and emergency medicine attendings and fellows. We are also lucky to have Dr. Matt Lyons, a UofL EMS fellow, this year to help out!
