Today is World MS Day!

Multiple sclerosis affects nearly one million people in the United States, and nearly three million people worldwide. Today we recognize the strength, resilience, and experiences of those living with MS while encouraging greater understanding and support within our communities.

Together, we can help spread awareness, support research, and advocate for those affected by multiple sclerosis.

With the summer heat, it is important to know the difference between heat exhaustion and heat stroke, as being able to recognize the signs can save lives. Here is what to do if you or someone around you experiences either condition:

Heat Exhaustion
• Relocate to a cooler, air-conditioned place.
• If conscious, have the person drink water.
• (B.A.N.G.) Place ice or cold water on the person’s back, armpits, neck, and groin to help cool them down quickly and keep them alert.
• Check pulse regularly.

Heat Stroke
• CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY!
• Stay with the person until help arrives.
• Keep the person cool and away from heat until emergency responders arrive.
