1. Stay Hydrated

Drink plenty of water throughout the day, especially if you are spending time outdoors. Staying hydrated helps your body regulate its temperature and prevent heat related illnesses.

2. Seek Shade

Take breaks in the shade or in an air conditioned space when temperatures are high. Getting out of the sun for even a short time can help your body cool down.

3. Wear Lightweight Clothing

Choose loose fitting, light colored clothing whenever possible. Breathable fabrics can help keep you cooler and more comfortable in the heat.

4. Avoid Peak Heat Hours

Try to limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day. Planning ahead can help reduce your risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

5. Know the Warning Signs

Pay attention to symptoms such as dizziness, headache, nausea, or heavy sweating. Recognizing the signs early can help you take action before the situation becomes serious.

Know the facts. When wounds are managed by an interdisciplinary team (meaning providers, specialized wound care teams, and surgical teams when needed), the risk of amputation can be reduced by nearly half.

During Wound Care Awareness Month, we encourage anyone living with a non-healing wound to seek specialized, team-based care. Early action and collaboration can help protect limbs and support better healing outcomes.

A small wound can become a serious problem when healing stalls. During Wound Care Awareness Month, we are encouraging anyone living with a non-healing wound to act early and stay informed.

Some of the most common wounds that benefit from quick, specialized care include diabetic foot ulcers, venous leg ulcers, non-healing surgical wounds, arterial wounds, and long-standing or recurrent wounds.

If your wound is not improving as expected, DO NOT WAIT. Early evaluation can help identify barriers to healing and may help prevent complications.

This Wound Care Awareness Month, we remind you that early intervention can make a powerful difference in healing.

When a wound is slow to heal, waiting can increase the risk of infection, hospitalization, or more serious complications. Identifying and treating wounds early helps support faster healing and better outcomes.

If you notice redness, swelling, drainage, or a wound that is not improving, DO NOT WAIT. Seek specialized care at WMC Wound Healing Center at the first sign of of a non-healing wound. Early action supports safer, more effective healing.

JUNE is Wound Care Awareness Month, a time to focus on the importance of early intervention and specialized care for non-healing wounds.

Not all wounds heal on their own. When a wound does not show signs of healing within a few weeks, it may be a chronic wound that requires expert care. Staying informed and seeking treatment early can help reduce the risk of infection, complications, or even amputation.

If you or a loved one notices a non-healing wound, do not wait. Find expert care at WMC Wound Healing Center today!
