Heat exhaustion and heat stroke can both happen when your body gets too hot, but heat stroke is a medical emergency.

Knowing the warning signs can help you recognize when it’s time to cool down—and when it’s time to call for help. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and take the heat seriously! 💧☀️

Summer is not over, & swimming still sounds divine with these hot temps! BUT, if you have an open wound, please remember:

*Water Exposure increases the risk of infection
*Fresh water & swimming pools carry bacteria
*Moisture will break down wound dressings quickly
All of this can delay healing &, in some cases, cause serious problems.

Enjoy the dog days of summer, but be aware if you have a wound!

When you are living with arterial disease, taking care of your legs and feet each day is an important part of protecting your circulation and preventing complications.

Check your feet daily, wear properly fitting shoes, keep skin clean and moisturized, avoid smoking and follow your provider's plan for managing conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol. These small steps can help support healthier circulation and better wound healing.

If you notice a sore, blister or wound that is not healing, contact our wound center at (662)736-9810. Early care can help prevent complications and get you on the path to healing.

Arterial disease can reduce blood flow to the legs and feet, making it more difficult for wounds to get the oxygen and nutrients they need to heal. This can turn a small injury into a serious, slow-healing wound.

Call us at (662)736-9810 if you notice a wound on your foot or toes that is not improving, increasing pain, cool skin, color changes or signs of infection.

TIMELY evaluation is key; DO NOT WAIT for a wound to get worse. We are here at WMC to help you with our specialized wound care.
