Big News! The official 2 month countdown begins today!
No, it has nothing to do with puppies. This announcement is about everything I've been working on the past 2 years, and working towards this upcoming fall.
This past January my work rewarded me with a free trip and travel voucher to anywhere in the world. Wow, what a privilege and challenge to decide where to go. Immediately my mind flooded with ideas: Peru to visit Machu Picchu, India to study yoga, Greece to sightsee, Dominican to relax on the beach, etc. I have been so grateful and blessed to have traveled and seen as much of the world as I have. Deep down I knew I wanted to give back in some way.
I started looking into marathons... I'm not a runner but it has always been on my "bucket list". Next thing you know, I stumbled upon The Kauai Marathon & Half Marathon, 9/4/22. A sign. That's it, that's what I'm meant to do. I will be running a marathon this September to honor and celebrate my father who passed away 8 years ago on 9/4/14.
More than that, I will be using this trip/run to raise money and awareness for mental health. The isolation and depression I experienced from China and Covid forced me to pay attention to my mental health. I have spent the last 2 years going to therapy and studying yoga, the nervous system, trauma, and Ayurveda to find peace and healing. I now want to share this knowledge and these practices with others to create awareness and education about mental health. My vision is to create a community that supports health and mental wellness.
If you knew my dad, then you probably knew his WTF stories. He was the greatest storyteller and always had the unluckiest moments to talk about. He always said he was going to write a book with all of his WTF stories. I've decided to name this my WTF (Win the Fight) Marathon. Please consider supporting my WTF campaign.
How to get involved?
1. Sponsor my run! I have set up a GoFundMe to collect donations. All of the proceeds will be going to local non-profits to support mental health and su***de prevention. I will also be accepting cash/checks to avoid fundraising fees. https://gofund.me/a65e375e
2. It's more about awareness than money. Please like, comment, and share this post to spread the word and mission.
3. Join/follow my wellness accounts for weekly tools and practices to help with mental health and wellbeing. https://linktr.ee/kaliyogawellness
I've been so nervous to make this post because "What if I can't run 26.2 miles? What if I get injured?" It's never been about just the race, it's more than that. I look forward to this journey with all of you! ~I love you very much. Please never forget how much. ~
I will be running a marathon on September 4th to honor and celebrate the day I lost my father 8 yea… Kaylee LaBrune needs your support for WTF- Win the Fight
