In an article from The Hill, Republicans in both chambers of Congress signed on to resolutions to nullify the vaccination-or-test emergency temporary standard (ETS) recently issued by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Republicans are following their long-standing vow of less-government-is good-government law.

MassCOSH and partners were awarded a Susan Harwood Follow on grant and proposes to continue building new training capacity by training 671 employers and workers. Training will focus on newly hired workers. Training topics will include COVID-19 and respiratory protection, fall prevention, healthcare industry hazards, and much more. Each partner will develop educational materials for workers and employers to help them identify and abate health and safety hazards in their workplaces. Training will be offered in English and Spanish. Congrats MassCOSH!

These grants focus on training, awareness and safety programs.

The Top 10 violations cited by OSHA for both construction and general industry demonstrated that most of the cited hazards were directed at employee exposure most likely to result in fatalities and serious injuries.

AIHA (formerly the American Industrial Hygiene Association) revealed concerns about the federal COVID-19 emergency temporary standard (ETS) in a letter OSHA. AIHA urged the agency to closely examine and immediately revise the emergency rule’s provisions dealing with ventilation, physical barriers, and transmission by inhalation of COVID-19, as well as OSHA’s use of the hierarchy of controls.
