Our beauty section and all the retail in the store are 30% off at Boo-Tox, and spending $100 gets you free Botox. Boo-Tox is our Halloween party, Tuesday, October 27, from 6 to 8 PM.

The shelves are full of skincare, face masks, soap, perfume, and little gifts that are fun to try and easy to give. With the holidays coming, it’s a good night to get ahead on the people who are hard to shop for, or to finally take home the face cream you keep picking up and putting back.

If you’ve picked up a prescription at Kitch, you’ve probably met these two. This counter is where most of our conversations happen. It’s where somebody remembers your name, asks how your week is going, and makes sure you know how to use a new medicine before you leave.

Come meet the whole Kitch Pharmacy team at Boo-Tox, our Halloween party with 30% off all retail and free Botox when you spend $100. It’s Tuesday, October 27, from 6 to 8 PM.

It’s not every day you get to hang out with your pharmacy team at a party. Most days you see us for a few minutes across the counter, usually on your way somewhere else. Boo-Tox is the night we get to slow down. We dress up, set out drinks and treats, and spend two hours visiting with the people we take care of. Ask the question you never have time to ask, put a face to the voice you hear on the phone, or just come shop and say hello.

We are throwing a Halloween party at the pharmacy, with 30% off all retail and free Botox when you spend $100. It’s called Boo-Tox, and it’s Tuesday, October 27, from 6 to 8 PM.

We named this place Kitch, short for kitchen, because no matter how many chairs are in the house, everybody ends up standing in the kitchen. That’s where you get to know people, and getting to know you is a big part of what we do here. Your body and your story aren’t like anybody else’s, so your care shouldn’t be one size fits all. Taking care of your health is hard work, and it gets a little easier when the people helping you know your name and what you’re working on.

We can’t think of a better way to get to know you than throwing a party in the store. Whether you’ve been coming in for years or you’ve never walked through the door, you’re welcome. Come in costume or come straight from work, grab a drink and a treat, and visit with us and the whole team.

When you walk into a pharmacy and ask for the pharmacist, you should know who's going to walk up. A lot of the time you don't, and that's one of the things we wanted to be different about Kitch.

Most days the one behind the counter is Lauren and the questions people bring a pharmacist are rarely about one bottle. They're about the five bottles at home, the lab result that came back fine, and the thing a friend swears by. Those questions get better answers from somebody who knows you, and most people only ask them once they know us.

Estrogen does more in your brain than anyone told you. It helps the chemistry of memory and focus, helps your brain use sugar for fuel, and keeps blood flowing to the parts that do the thinking. Think of estrogen as the voltage coming into the house. When the power company changes the voltage, every appliance still works, but the lights are dimmer and the toaster takes longer. In perimenopause, estrogen stops holding steady, and some women's brains adjust to the new supply without much trouble while others' don't. That's wiring, not character, and it can start while your cycles are still regular.

Hormones aren't the only thing in the room, either. A stress hormone that stays high lands hardest on the memory center. Blood sugar that spikes and crashes makes three in the afternoon feel like a wall. A thyroid that isn't converting, and a gut that's out of balance, each add fog of their own. Every one of those can be measured, and several of them can be changed.

Here is what the the usual thyroid test looks at. Your thyroid mostly makes a storage form of thyroid hormone, and your body has to convert it into the active form before your cells can use it. The standard check reads the signal from your brain and sometimes the storage form, and that's a reasonable first step. What it doesn't read is how well the conversion is going. Think of the storage form as food in the pantry and the active form as food on the plate. A full pantry doesn't feed anybody, and a lot of women are walking around with a full pantry and an empty plate.

Stress is the most common reason. When your stress hormone stays high, your body converts less thyroid hormone into the active form and more into an inactive look-alike that fits the same spot but doesn't start the engine. So the storage tank reads full, the signal reads normal, and you're still cold at two in the afternoon.

A fuller thyroid panel looks at the active form and the look-alike next to the usual number, and we read it alongside your stress hormone, your iron, and the medicines you already take, because a few common ones change how a thyroid pill works. And a hair, skin, and nails vitamin with biotin in it can make a thyroid test read wrong, so tell whoever draws your blood if you take one.

Thinning hair has a hormone behind it, and it's one most women have never been told about.

Your body turns a small amount of testosterone into a stronger hormone called DHT, and that happens in women as well as men. If your hair follicles are sensitive to DHT, they shrink a little at a time, so each new hair grows in thinner and some follicles stop growing hair at all. That's why the part gets wider and the ponytail gets smaller, and it's why a biotin gummy on its own usually doesn't change much.

Saw palmetto is a plant extract that has been studied for limiting how much DHT the body makes, and it's one of the main ingredients in Hello Gorgeous, our product of the month. It's two capsules a day, with the saw palmetto alongside MSM, silica, and biotin, which are the raw materials your body uses to build a strand of hair. In a two-year study, about four in ten men who took saw palmetto every day saw more hair growth.
