What a week! ❤️🖤
Thanks to grant funding secured by Dr. Haven Niland, in collaboration with Drs. Stevens, Barbre, Chapman, and Hamrick - we were able to provide intensive assessment training to public school practitioners from all across the state of Texas.

A huge shout out to Lubbock ISD and the Vocational Transition Center, who graciously hosted us when a water leak had us shifting arrangements on short notice. Their help kept the training running without missing a beat.

Collaborative efforts like these are what make our work possible. Thank you to every practitioner who joined us this week. Your commitment to serving students across Texas is what it’s all about.

Join us June 22 at the ESC Region 17 Center as we host Dr. Brittany Hott from the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Hott will provide a full-day workshop titled "Data Collection Made Easy: Practical Strategies for Effectively Measuring Student Progress."

This hands-on training is designed to help educators simplify the process of collecting and using student data without feeling overwhelmed.

Participants will explore practical, classroom-friendly strategies for gathering meaningful academic and behavior data. Through interactive examples and guided practice educators will learn how to:
• Select appropriate data collection methods that align with student goals,
• Increase accuracy and consistency in data recording,
• Use simple visual systems to organize and interpret data, and
• Turn data into actionable steps to improve student outcomes.

Texas Tech's scarlet isn't just a color - it's a symbol of boldness, pride, and the pioneering spirit that has defined TTU since 1923.

Today, on World Autism Day, the Burkhart Center for Autism Education and Research at Texas Tech University begins lighting up red each night throughout April, honoring our Red Raiders on the autism spectrum and the broader autistic community across Lubbock and West Texas.

Scarlet has always stood for the fierce determination and heart of the Red Raider family. This April, that tradition takes on even deeper meaning as we connect our university pride to our commitment to the autism community.

Each night our building glows red, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and vibrant contributions of autistic individuals — here at Texas Tech and throughout our region.
