Bottle ni***es aren’t clothing sizes. 👏

Your baby doesn’t automatically need to “size up” just because they’re getting older.

The number on a bottle ni**le generally relates to flow rate, and faster isn’t automatically better. What matters is how your baby handles the flow.

Watch for cues during bottle feeds like coughing, gulping, milk leaking from the mouth or repeatedly pulling away. These can be signs that it’s worth taking a closer look at how the feeding is going.

The takeaway? Watch your BABY, not just the number on the ni**le. 🤍

“But my app says you ate 47 minutes ago…” 😅

Baby: Cool. I’m hungry.

One of the biggest surprises for first-time parents is that newborn feeding doesn’t always follow a perfectly predictable schedule. Cluster feeding and periods of increased feeding during growth spurts can be completely normal.

Instead of watching only the clock, watch your baby, too. Rooting, bringing hands toward the mouth, becoming more alert and opening the mouth can all be early hunger cues. Crying often comes later.

Trackers are helpful for remembering when baby last ate, but they’re just one tool. Your baby is giving you information, too. 🤍

Your pump is a tool, not a report card. 🤍

It’s easy to look at the ounces in your bottle and immediately wonder, “Am I making enough?” But pump output is only one piece of a much bigger feeding picture.

How much you pump can vary based on fl**ge fit, pump settings, time of day, when your baby last fed and even how your body responds to the pump.

So if one pumping session doesn’t look like you expected, don’t let those ounces define your success.

Breastfeeding Month is here 🤍

And if there’s one thing we want every parent to know, it’s this: feeding your baby doesn’t always come naturally just because it’s natural.

Questions about latch. Pain during feeds. Wondering if baby is getting enough. Pumping. Bottle introduction. Returning to work. Supply concerns. Sometimes you just need someone to tell you what’s normal, what’s not and what you can do next.

Your baby had a tongue-tie release. Now your mama brain has approximately 47 questions. 🤍

Will they be sore? What does healing look like? Is there anything we can do to support them afterward?

One tool we may use at Parkview Therapy Services is Summus laser therapy, also called photobiomodulation. It uses light energy and may help support healthy tissue healing, reduce inflammation and provide temporary pain relief following a release.

And because we know the word “laser” sounds a little scary when we’re talking about your baby: no needles and no medication involved.

The release may be quick, but your baby’s care doesn’t end there. We’re here for the before, the after and all those mama questions in between. 🤍
