As we wrap up Better Speech and Hearing Month, we want families to know that speech development is connected to so much more than just words. 💚

The muscles used for speaking are also involved in chewing, swallowing and overall oral development. That means challenges with oral function like strength, coordination and range of motion can sometimes impact speech and feeding as well.

At Parkview Therapy Services, we take a whole child approach because we believe families deserve to understand the full picture, not just isolated symptoms.

In honor of Better Speech and Hearing Month, we’re spotlighting myofunctional therapy, a specialty area focused on improving the function and coordination of the muscles of the mouth, tongue and face.

Myofunctional therapy can help address:

• Chewing and swallowing difficulties
