INDIGENOUS PEOPLES’ DAY IS NOT ABOUT REWRITING HISTORY, IT’S ABOUT RECOGNIZING THE TRUTH.
Lands stolen, treaties broken, children ripped from their beds in the dead of night and stolen from their families, women killed and missing, women being forced into sterilization, languages suppressed and those beaten if they spoke them, and the multiple cultures targeted for genocide still to this day.
And yet somehow, centuries later, we’re still debating whose history deserves recognition?
We are not a conquered people. This day is a testament to the resilience, resistance, and the generations of Indigenous people who fought to preserve what others continue to try and erase.
To help continue that fight, today, we are donating a portion of our proceeds to Adopt-A-Native-Elder, an organization supporting Navajo elders and the preservation of living traditions. Preserving our future means honoring those who carry the past. Our elders are the connection between generations, keeping our languages, teachings, and traditions alive so that those who come after us understand not only where we came from, but who we are.
