We are devastated to hear of the line of duty death of Deputy Burlie Duvall and our hearts go out to Deputy Duvall’s family and the Appomattox County Sheriff’s Office. Our crews had the pleasure of knowing Deputy Duvall when he was working with Centra Public Safety and are saddened to hear of the loss of a man so full of life.

As we close out EMS week 2026, we take the time to reflect on the commitment our EMS agencies and their personnel put into providing exceptional patient care in order to improve patient outcomes.

We have spent the last several days spending time with some of our local agencies and honoring their dedication to their communities. They are caregivers, advocates, life-savers, and chaos-coordinators that excel in the moments where you need them most and we are more than happy to have their backs when they need us.
