I didn’t rebuild my life in private. I rebuilt it while three little humans were watching me.They watched me lose pieces of myself. They watched me carry things I never spoke about. They watched me figure out how to be a mother while figuring out how to become myself again. There were days I was exhausted, scared, overwhelmed and had absolutely no idea WTF I was doing but I kept going because quitting wasn’t an option when six little eyes were watching me.
And somewhere along the way I realized I wasn’t just rebuilding a life. I was teaching my children what rebuilding looks like. I taught my daughters that a woman can start over at any age. I taught my son that strength doesn’t always look loud. Sometimes it looks like a woman quietly putting her life back together piece by piece and still making sure her children feel safe. So when people judge me, misunderstand me, talk about me or decide who I am based on a chapter they never lived I don’t care at all. You are judging the woman I became.

My kids watched what it cost me to become her.
And their opinion will always matter more than yours.
