I’ve spent a lot of time on boats, rafts, rivers, oceans and lakes this month..The water, in all its forms and formlessness..has taught me so much. Water..taught me about resistance – where it exists things can get stopped up and where it breaks, the terrain becomes wide open filled with energy, velocity and possibilities. It’s taught me about depths, how intimidating and mysterious they are..they speak to a profound place within..that’s hard to see and feel..and a stark reminder of how refreshing shallow depths can be, where there is total clarity.. no uncertainty whatsoever. It’s taught me how to feel – something incredible happens when moving on the water with very little control of where we go…we feel deeply in those moments, there is freedom, liberation, joy…and then, at that point, we realize that we’re going in the right direction. Maybe that’s flow. It could be surrender too. It could also just be the nature of things. But it has been a teacher..and for that I’m grateful!
