"Like an elephant's taken one of its feet off my chest."

That's what it feels like when you finally stop performing. We spend so much energy masking at work, in relationships, and in life just trying to keep it together. And it is exhausting.

This scene reminds us of something we forget too often. Real friends don't run when things get messy. They wait for the truth so they can figure out how to actually show up for you.

Your diagnosis doesn't define your worth. Your struggles don't disqualify you from being loved, supported, or seen. You just need the right space to finally say it out loud.

At The Comfy Place, we want to be that space. You don't have to keep performing here.

If you're tired of masking and ready to just be yourself reach out. We're here. 💛

As a therapist who works with little black boys and young black men this has me shaken up. 😢

I truly love all people and (yes I dislike racist folks) but for me a child is a child regardless of their skin color. It breaks me every time I see one of my little black boys have to experience a harder life than they should just cause.

Like all this trauma, all this grief. When does it stop. Will it ever end. Im frankly tired of the bad news.

So today I hold grief in my heart for this young man and for so many like him gone to soon. And I hold grief in my heart for all the black boys and men I work with bc I know the world will never truly be a safe place for them.

Don’t get me wrong, watching people heal is deeply rewarding. But my bills don’t accept emotional breakthroughs as legal tender. 😭

Passion pays the soul, but the invoice pays the rent.
To all the helpers out there keeping the lights on: I see you.

Share this with a fellow practitioner who relates. 💛

If you think your therapist is just “naturally calm,” just know there was a 5-minute worship concert/exorcism right before the session. 😭🙌🏾

Let’s be real… therapists are human too.

We don’t walk into sessions untouched by life. We feel stress. We have moments. We go through things just like everyone else.

The difference is, we’ve learned how to pause, reset, and show up with intention… even on the days when we have to pull ourselves together real quick.

Because this work requires presence. It requires care. It requires us to make space for someone else, even when life is life-ing.

So yes… sometimes it’s a quick moment, a deep breath, a prayer, a reset before the door opens.
And then we show up.

Therapists… be honest. What’s your pre-session reset? 😭

Sometimes the back-to-back sessions catch up to you and your body just demands an immediate dance break.

You simply cannot argue with Gasolina. It is culturally impossible.

Consider this your official reminder that even your therapist needs to shake off the heavy energy and let her inner Latina take over between appointments. 💃🏽✨

Please tell me I’m not the only one doing this between meetings. What’s your go-to song when you need to shake off the workday? 👇🏾💀

The replay doesn't lie. The boundaries were justified and you are officially cleared of all internal guilt.

We tend to think we're "too much" or "overreacting" because we've been playing defense for everyone else for so long that protecting ourselves starts to feel foreign. Setting a boundary isn't a red card, it's you blowing the whistle to protect your own mental health before the game gets out of hand.

The whole stadium is on their feet for you. 👏🏾

Pass this on to someone who's doing a great job protecting their boundaries. 🖤

Melissa is drunk and outside and that's somehow your nervous system's problem now 🤷🏾‍♀️
We love a good vacation storyline in session, but we all have that one friend who is a beautiful hazard to our therapeutic progress. 😭📝

Whether their name is actually Melissa or they just bring that chaotic energy, staying grounded on a group trip is a real balancing act. Remember to practice at least one boundary this weekend. We're already clearing space on our schedules for the post-vacation unpacking session 🧳😂

Tag that friend below and follow us at for your daily dose of real-life wellness. 🖤

Finding a therapist who doesn't just tolerate your identity but actually celebrates it, that changes everything.

For the LGBTQIA+ community, a therapeutic space that affirms who you are without requiring you to explain, mask, or apologize for it isn't a luxury. It's a clinical necessity and exactly what healing deserves.

Whether you are navigating self-discovery, healing from systemic harm, or simply looking for a room where your whole identity is welcome we built this place for you.

Your story matters. Your healing deserves a safe space to land.

Our doors, our hearts, and our therapy spaces remain open to all. Always. 🤎❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

If you are looking for a safe, identity-affirming space to begin or continue your healing journey, send us a DM. We would love to welcome you to The Comfy Place.
