It’s easy to feel like you need to make every Christmas perfect for those you love. Whether it's hosting dinners, putting together holiday productions, affording the perfect gifts, or creating the perfect memories, the expectations and demands can feel never-ending.
Oh, friend, the pressure to keep up with every tradition and be all the things to everyone will only leave you feeling stressed and overwhelmed, but this doesn’t have to be your experience this year. What matters most is that the Christmas season is not about being perfect but about celebrating the perfect One who came to us to give us life!
1. When you feel like there's too much on your plate, remember we have a God who provides more than enough: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28, NIV).
2. When you feel alone in the planning and prepping, remember we have a God who is with us in the chaos: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27, NIV).
3. When you feel like you’re getting caught up in perfection, remember we have a God who gave His perfect Son to save us: “She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21, NIV).
May these reminders help us to refocus our thoughts on what truly matters this season! Which of these reminders are you clinging to today?
