The Celtic imagination always sensed that beneath time there was eternal depth. This offers us a completely different way of relating to time. It relieves time of the finality of ending. While something may come to an ending on the surface of time, its presence, meaning, and effect continue to be held and integrated into the eternal. This is how spirit unfolds and deepens. In this sense, eternal time is intimate; it is where the unfolding narrative of individual life is gathered and woven. Eternal life is eternal memory; therefore, it becomes possible to imagine a realm beyond endings where all that has unfolded is not canceled or lost, but where the spirit-depths of it are already arriving home.

The Perfect Fifth and Nature.🎶🌿

The perfect fifth, a musical interval of seven semitones (e.g., C to G), is found in nature due to the way sound waves interact. Specifically, it aligns with the mathematical ratios of harmonics or overtones, which are naturally occurring frequencies when a sound source vibrates.

This natural alignment contributes to the consonant and pleasing sound of the perfect fifth, observed in birdsong and even in the sounds of human and animal voices, according to various sources.

Harmonic Series and Overtones.🎼🎶
When a sound source vibrates, it produces not only the fundamental frequency but also higher frequencies called overtones or harmonics.

These overtones are whole-number multiples of the fundamental frequency. The second harmonic, for example, is twice the fundamental frequency and is a perfect octave above it. The third harmonic is 1.5 times the fundamental, which is a perfect fifth.

The perfect fifth is not only a musical concept but also a natural phenomenon. It's heard in birdsong, in the voices of humans and animals, and in the sounds produced by various natural phenomena like vibrating strings or the wind.
