Did you know your resting body posture can influence jaw pain? The good news is that practicing good ergonomics can reduce unnecessary strain and make it easier for your body to heal.
Here are a few tips for improving jaw health right at home:
• Focus on good posture: Sit up straight, both feet flat on the floor, shoulders down and relaxed.
• Keep your head stacked on your shoulders: every inch forward drastically increases the amount of unnecessary weight your neck has to support.
• Sleeping: Avoid sleeping on your stomach. Try sleeping on your side or back with your head in line with your spine.
• Pay attention to how you hold your jaw: Think "lips together, teeth apart" for your resting jaw posture.
Each of these steps helps maintain good posture and may reduce tension in your jaw, neck, and shoulders.
