🤧 Thought you were getting over that virus… but now you feel worse?
Sometimes a viral infection is just the beginning. After a cold, flu, COVID, or other respiratory virus, some people can develop a **secondary infection** as symptoms evolve.
👂 Ear infection (otitis media): new or worsening ear pain, pressure, or decreased hearing
👃 Sinus infection (sinusitis): worsening facial pressure, sinus pain, thick drainage, or symptoms that improve and then come back
😷 Throat infection/pharyngitis: worsening sore throat, painful swallowing, swollen glands, or fever
🫁 Lower respiratory infection/pneumonia: worsening cough, fever, shortness of breath, chest discomfort, or feeling significantly worse
⚠️ Not every lingering symptom means you need an antibiotic. Many respiratory infections are viral and improve with time. But if you were starting to feel better and then suddenly get worse, develop new symptoms, or simply aren’t improving as expected, it may be worth getting checked.
